Hi everyone!

I would like to gauge your interest in putting together an event September 6 around the movie release of the Italian Job remake.

The plan would be to find a cinema in the Midlands that has a sizeable parking area - and hold a bit of a cruise / parking lot party before viewing the movie.

The event will be publicised and open to owners of Classic Minis as well as the new Mini. If the parking area will support it, I would like to have two designated parking areas - one for the New Mini and one for Classic Minis.

I have an eye on a cinema that boasts 800 parking spaces - so that may be the chosen location - TBD in the next few days.

With luck, I would like to engage the Mini universe (Mini retailers, Mini magazines, etc.) and Paramount Pictures next week with hopes they will support an event.

I would also like to make it a charitable event, so I may sort that out and ask attendees to make an optional donation of a pound or two. Again, this has yet to be determined.

Please let me know if you would be interested in attending and/or assisting.

We'd been looking at doing something like this, however all MINI dealers (almost all) will be sending out free invites to customers and 'potential' clients inviting them to Italian Job screenings. So with that in mind, I think takers on a paid for event might be harder to find.

I hadn't realized that Mini dealers were doing this - I better ring my dealer up and find out if they're doing the same!

I doubt invites will be going out just yet. All dealers were offered the chance to opt in, so your dealer should have vague details at least.

An invite from Southbank MINI in London came through my letterbox this morning for a free preview screening in Clapham on 11th September.

I phoned them this morning to say thank you very much and can I have two tickets, please. I think they've had a lot of calls so if you've had an invite, probably best to get on the phone quickly.

So I guess I shoudl expect mine too, Southbank are the service agent for my current mini, and I'm on their waiting list for a new mini open next year!
