hi guys, 'the mighty imp' here from south coast new mini (SCNM)

SCNM are a group of folks all around the south of england, and we meet up every couple of weeks and go for thrashes around the countryside.

anyway, count me in if that's cool with you guys, and i see if i can persuade any one else from our busy forum to come too. it may be 500 miles, but it's worth it to see the illuminations, the minis and go on the pepsi max big one again! (I came last year, about 3 days before they switched the lights on! DOH!)

i'll be bringing 2 passengers, just for your stats.

regards,

Ian M.

Leave CR at 4pm for a trundle into Blackpool, starting at the southerly end of the prom and finishing at the rendezvous adjacent to the North Pier. (Subject to Council Approval). This will take us to about 6pm.

There, we can park up, admire our cars, Branston can do her "thang" on the dance floor, and we can also get some grub!

From the rendezvous we can then head back, southbound on the prom, and then head home from there (9pmish?)

That's fine by us. Is there going to be time to fit in the bit from North Pier to Bispham, which can be quieter (and quicker), especially later in the evening.

England are playing footy in Turkey at 6pm (live on Sky Sports and Radio 5) so let's hope we get the right result so people are in a good mood when they come out of the pubs!

By my reckoning we should get 'bout 2 hrs at the rendezvous.....if you wanna go up as far as Bispham that's fine.......it may leave you less time to get food....unless you're bringing some butties with ya!

No seriously...you should have plenty of time, I guessing I've probably over-egged the time to get from Charnock Richard to the rendezvous, so you should be OK?

Cheers,

Robert

Speed cameras

Ill have to check if I'm available on the 11th (I think I am), as I'd love to come along if that's okay? As I said on page 1 of this thread I live in Blackpool, so I may meet you at the services, or en-route. One of my mates owns a Cooper too, so I'll let let him know about the run.

Just to let everyone know, if you've not been to Blackpool for a year or two there are A LOT of speed cameras on the promenade (I'd estimate ten or so). An illuminations run is slow, but everyone please be careful if you get in a clear patch and get the opportunity to press that accellerator.

Oh, as for food, there are plenty of places to eat near the North Pier.

Hey Interceptor.....we could always visit the local "Golden Arches Restaurant" if you like!

Er.....there's plenty of chippies in 'pool.....in fact i bet there's enough for one for each day of the year!.........if I remember correctly there's a Harry Ramsdens just down from the North Pier.....but it gets dead busy at this time of year......we always try the road that runs parallel with the prom.....loadsa chippies down there.....to be honest you'll be spoilt for choice.

I think to try an organise a "block" booking for all of us may prove to be too difficult....I think we'll all have to sort this one out for ourselves, or at least go in smaller groups, as we'll need some peeps to keep an eye on the motors.

I haven't had a chance to ring the man at the council yet.....I'm a bit busy in work.....will try either tomorrow or Friday!

Cheers,

Robert

Ha Ha......

I used to work in store 121 when I was at college! I started as a lowly green badge and worked my way up to Training Squad.....my best ever hour on the tills was £175....had to go like greased lightning to do that!

Ay....them were the days......4 close.....cleaning out the "taylor" after closing......eating the left over apple pies....the pies the pies!

hahahahahahaha

I was in Blackpool yesterday and I met a group of girls that were convinced the illuminations were on that night. I had 11th October in my head for some reason, now I know why. I did try to warn them.
