The Worthing Store was that?

Green badges, ages since I heard that being said, £175 notes in a Hour, thats pretty good going, as the Prices were probably cheaper back then!
I don't like the apple pies anymore

Houston......we have a problem!

OK folks...here goes......

I spoke with my man @ the council today......in principle, they are OK with us using the area just north of the North Pier (adjacent to the Cenotaph) for parking......the problem lies with getting cars on and off the parking area, which is technically classed as a footpath. As a non-affiliated club we do not and cannot possess 3rd party liability insurance. (no your car policy does not cover you, I asked that one) As such the council will not allow us to access the parking area, as they would be held jointly to blame should anything happen....ie a pedestrian get knocked down.....or someone colliding with a tram etc. So as it stands, it looks like my original idea is shot down in flames! zoooooooooooooooom!

Being a persistently optimistic person, I'm not going to allow a bit of bureaucracy stop me.....so I've formulated a cunning plan, based on some info that the man @ the council gave me.....so here goes with Plan B.....

15-00 Meet @ Charnock Richard Services, M6 Northbound
16-00 Leave Charnock Richard for Blackpool Airport
17-00 Arrive "The Hot Air Ballooon" Pub for Food & Drink
19-00 Leave Pub to head north through the Lights
21-00 Arrive at Bispham....turnaround to head back South
22-00ish Arrive back at "The Hot Balloon" Pub
Whatever Go Home!

Now I'm working a bit blind on the location for food - Prowse as a local what do you reckon....?
It was recommended on the grounds that it has a decent carpark.........does it do decent food?

Finally if you think Plan B is acceptable, then I'll see if we can book some tables! (Here's hoping!)

If this is the case we may need to limit numbers, as the pub may struggle to cope with us

Cheers,

Robert

OK Folks I have some BAD news and some GOOD news........

The BAD news is that Plan B has also been shot down in flames....the "Air Balloon" Pub is going to be closed for a re-fit during October So that's that completely out of the window!

The GOOD news is I think we may have found a better alternative........something that my man at the council recommended in addition to Plan A.

I have called the "Red Lion" pub, which is a Beefeater Pub and also has a Travel Inn attached. Most importantly it has a car park with room for 120 cars. I've spoken to the manager there, and he seems very keen to provide us with food and parking, plus involvement with the local dealer (Bowkers) and the local press. (My guess is he wants some publicity!)

The plan would go as follows:

14-00 Meet at Charnock Richard.....as Plan B

15-00 Depart CR for the Red Lion, Bispham Blackpool.

16-15 Arrive Red Lion, park up, and let the publicity machine roll.

16-30 to 18-30 Eat, Drink and be Merry!

18-30 Head South thru the Illuminations........(Lights go on at 18-15)

19-30ish Do a one-eighty on the prom......and head back north

21-30 Arrive back at Red Lion (as they are prepared to keep our parking)

Whenever Go home

Now, I 've made a provisional booking, which will require confirmation next week....SO I NEED SOME FEEDBACK on whether Plan C is acceptable to all. It also means that we will need to limit numbers to something near the current level (maybe a few more?)

Once the booking is confirmed, I will need to put some money down as a deposit to secure the place.

Let the people decide!!!????

Cheers,

Robert

Hi Robert,

This plan is fine with me and I will definately be there with one passenger.

Let me know if & when you need a deposit for meal etc and I will send a cheque.

If you need a PM to confirm this, let me know.

Thanks, Helen x x

No probs Helen....if there is sufficient feedback, I'll probably put the deposit on a card.....and you can all settle up on the day.

The meal would be whatever their std menu is...ie hot...I did ask about a buffet, as it's easier (well I think it is)....but they need to get full covers on a Saturday, ie their preference is for hot meals as it gives max profit.

ANY MORE FOR ANYMORE?

Robert

That's great Robert, and the Red Lion looks to be an excellent location.

We'll have to pass on the Beefeater though as we'll have our dog with us, and we don't leave her in the car on her own. We shouldn't have a problem finding a takeaway though - we're used to that when we're on our travels.
