Confirmed: MINI2 - The Darkness Run, Sat 22nd November

OK, first of all, no spandex or big hair required for this type of darkness!

This is a MINI run like no other, because it will be held entirely at night!

This event will take place Saturday 22nd November, meeting at 5pm for a 5:30pm (approx) start, to complete the 80 mile run in plenty of time for a nice pub warm up at the end!

The route will be of a similar to the Milton Keynes MINI Run held earlier this year, which despite the 'New City' name takes in some pretty cool/challenging country lanes in Northants, Bed, and Bucks, although this run will be shorter because of the 'intensity' of night driving!

The starting point is now confirmed as being at the services on the A422 between Old Stratford and Buckingham. At this location is a petrol station, The Shires Motel, and the Thai Villager restaurant. Postcode: MK19 6JU.

Click Here For a Map. The meeting point is marked 'Hotel' on the map shown, you can of course pan out from there for a better overview. It is close to the A5 coming from Milton Keynes (from the South) and Toweceter (from the North) and near the A508/A421.

Directions from the M1 here: Post #171 and here: Post #173

The run will finish at a nice pub for a drink (soft for the drivers), the loo, and a chance to share tales of the evenings adventures!

There will have a half time break, but only to get everyone together, make sure everyone is having a good time, and then set off again!

This post will be updated, along with updates and quieries posted during the normal flow of conversation.

List of attendees & interested people (please let me know if you're in/out ASAP, passengers not listed)....

1) Bonnie Scotland
2) Goonery
3) R1

For those that missed the MK Run, BBQ and Camp, here's that thread to give you an idea of location...

Might try a smaller run based on the Milton Keynes MINI Run this year (because that route is great at night anyway!) and then see where we can take this idea from there...

Hell's teeth - that route was tough enough in broad daylight. Add ice and darkness and I think I'll start speccing my replacement S now!

(But it could be worth it just to get 4 driving lights fitted "for safety" )

SO.. who likes the idea of a late night, probably in winter (so we don't have to stay up all night to drive in the dark!) of MINI madness, chasing MINI tail lights through the night along some twisty lanes?

Given the comments in the headlamps thread, maybe there is some mileage in this, could be a group comparison of headlamp efficiency as well, Mine are brighter than yours sort of thing, can you fit Cibie Oscars to a MINI? I'd have a go, but not till Dec 2nd when the new Coop arrives, as this one is running out of miles fast.

Your madness is fairly common Paul, this idea has been debated before in other arenas

As this is so local and I may be tempted to pop along
