| DRIVER | Planning trip to UK Hey, I am planning a trip to the UK and possibly Amsterdam for the week of March 13th and would like some imput from you guys. Ultimately I would like to go to Edinburgh, London, and Amsterdam while I'm there, but I don't think a week is enough time to do so. I have also considered either doing only London or just London and Amsterdam or Edinburgh. I want to party, but I also want to see the UK countryside. Would renting a car be a good idea or should I stick to getting a railpass and rely on public transportation? Can I borrow anyone's MINI? =) My friend Trey and I will be staying in hostels, drinking beer, and taking in the culture (both historical and recreational) . I am just graduating college and would like to spend less than $1000 USD. Any input would be greatly appreciated.... :white: ![]() |

| Awwww %%%% it! | AW is right - Heartbeat Run time. If you want to see the english countryside then this is a must for you - and I have no doubt you'll find plenty of M2ers travelling up from London for the Run who can give you a lift there and back. You'd be mad not to join in - ask MP ![]() |

Offline | u won't hire a MINI for a week, get accomodation and culture for less than $1000 (i assume u mean after airfare?). blag a ride in someone's MINI, and spend the rest of the time in a cheaper hire car or with the delights of public transport... ![]() |

| DRIVER | Well a flight to London will cost about $350. Hostelling costs next to nothing. We will be dining most often sitting on park benches or street curbs after shopping at a local market. We don't plan on going to any fancy restaurants, theaters, or showing up to our first bar sober. Trey's plan is to spend less than $800, my plan is to budget myself as close to $1000 as possible, but I'm probably going to spend around $1500. I think I need to learn more about this Heartbeat Run. I also think I need to convince Trey that such an event is worthy of participating in. I also need to find a pair of open seats in a MINI.... |

| MINI2 Master | If you haven't already, look in the UK Social forum. The Heartbeat Run is going to be a good one. The moors up there in North Yorkshire are amongst the most beautiful parts of countryside in the UK. My car will only have me in it, so an offer is there for a seat on the run. ![]() |

| DRIVER | Steve - the site I was navigating had prices in EUROs. Soggy - Thanks.....I've perused that thread a bit...I can't spend the time it takes to read 10 pages of posts at this time in my life. I'll start with my decision making after I finish with my finals. Trey is game for going on the Heartbeat Run. It looks like I will be looking for a pair of passenger seats (wishing or a pair of driver's seats) starting in London. I'll get serious about the details in about another month. Thanks alot! :white: ![]() |
