England Just so common!

It was a Sunday today, so every man woman and child was out driving in London. I know the Mini is a very popular car, but I was amazed/shocked at how many dark silver MCS there are in London. I live pretty central, and at one point today there were at least 5 others very similar to mine parked ON THE SAME STREET!! I didn’t buy a Mini to be different, I bought it to drive , but this is getting ridiculous!

And as an after-thought, of all the 40 or so Mini's I saw on the roads in London today not one of them waved or anything. I’m sure it was because they were not MINI2'ers...

All the best,

Adam

Still dont see THAT many around here, but certainly much more than a year ago. Most Cooper Ss I see are dark silver here, I do really like DS, but didn't get it almost purely because they're the most "common" S around here.

NB: People in London buy MINI's because they are cheaper than BMW, Mercedes etc, and still have a certain amount of 'image'. They don't buy them because they are enthusiasts!

They are super common in London, and the surrounding area in general, and progressively more rare as you go further north (honeymoon in Scotland proved that, beyond a doubt)

I no longer bother trying to wave/flash MINI's in town, as most think you're just a road rager of some sort.

Contrast this to Milton Keynes (home), where almost all MINI's flash/wave, and all the best MINI drivers come from

Oh - I work on Cheapside (St Paul's end), so I see a fair few MINI's as I commute from the M1 through Islington/Highgate and into the square mile.

Being a bit of a saddo I make a count every journey to and from work of how many MINIs I see as this helps to break up the boredom and I'm a bit excited every time I see one as my new Cooper is ready for collection on Saturday! .

I only drive around 12 miles to work but have seen up to 10 MINIs on the journey, and yes the most popular colour is definitely silver (either dark or pure silver) with black roof and mirrors. In my opinion silver is far too sober a colour for a fun car like a MINI but each to their own. I've opted for Indi Blu/White but did toy with the idea of yellow/black .

know how you feel adam. i live in westmister & travel into city and chelsea/kensington all the time & chelsea in particular is full of them. i love my mcs too much to mind that there are so many around and one consolation is that the most "common" car in chelsea is actually a merc!

ps. i'm not one of those saddos (imho) who bought it to be trendy or because i can't affored a bmw or merc. it was THE ONLY CAR i wanted

Have to agree with you Adam, Mini2 owners around chiswick are just as bad at not responding to a flash or wave (except those who are on here..... Just thought I'd better add that).

Again I got the car cos I love it and I like the way it handles and drives not to be uppity and snobbish!

When I nod my head...... hit it!

Keep waving. It's infectious.
