I'd be happy to pay a little but...

I'm not fussed about the petrol I used on the practice run and scouting me and mathmos did, neither is wobert it seems.

It all works out in the end.

On a differant note.....hmmm needs a new post to be seen I think...

F.A.O. PEOPLE VOTING 7TH MARCH!

Was thinkin, both dates are easy for me and Mathmos (but his lovely GF can't come on the 22nd Poor Kerry)

SO although I can't afford a trip to wales twice in one month, I was thinkin that we could have another meet somewhere closer to home, not as small as say the pre-meets, but so the people who can only do the 7th March can come on a meet.

I was thinkin somewhere central to the general voters of the 7th March. I don't know where central would be, but Manchester (e.g. Trafford Centre), Bolton (middlebrook), Preston, Blackburn etc etc, etc?

...I'm also no suggesting somewhere near me either, as I may not go on the 7th march meet (if it becomes one) its just an idea for those that can't do the 22nd, and those that want to do both

Paying for runs

I'm sorry if I go against the majority

but I feel paying for a run is just not in the whole spirit of what this forum is about

Its a forum run by and for MINI2 enthusiasts... meaning we are enthusiastic about MINI's ... the runs we do are for that reason and if you feel you want to(or are capable) of organising a run then you should be doing it for that reason alone....

Ya I know petrol costs for practice runs rack up.... but no-one forced anyone to do it.... it was their decision....

Whats this gonna lead to.... sub in a kitty so ppl who travel further to get to a run get a £5 cashback on arrival?

sorry if I sound all cynical and bitter but to repeat my first point

We r enthusiasts..... lets be enthusiastic?

Damo - good idea, I would definately be up for this as well as the other run what does everyone else think?

Any of the above locations would be good.

Possible 7th March Meet

Right well it looks like the Wales run will be on the 22nd. Unless I've missed something, and it preety much all arranged, so maybe we could start talking about the 7th March peeps, cos I'm preety sure most of the normal pre-meet people would no doubt come.

When I used to do meets (just the evenin ones) we used to meet at the trafford centre, have some grub in the Express Bar, and then muck about in the arcade place. Not everyone's cup of tea, but an idea for if this ii its a goer. So we need an idea of who wants to come and where they're willing to meet. Like I said its by no means a problem it it does end up being north wales again, just whatever's best for those wanting a meet on the 7th.

as a previous/current run organiser myself i can say i wouldn't want to get involved in collecting money off runners. it just leads to all sorts of complications - who has/hasn't paid, do you make it purely voluntary or not, etc.

its a nice idea but speaking personally i enjoy organising runs, including pouring over maps & driving recces. no-one is forcing me to do it & if it costs a bit in fuel then to be honest i'm not bothered. like Wobert says you make up for the fact that the run is on your doorstep & you're not travelling 50 miles+ just to get to the run (another benefit of organising your own - more time in bed sunday morning ). the only money raising i would possibly get involved in would be for a charity & then it does become purely voluntary - with the amount of runs being organised this might be something to consider?

I used to live in Burnley and there are some great roads round there, Sabden Fold, Pendle Hill (to see some witches of course) would be nice to see the area again- left there in 1986!

yes i know that area. it has been run in part previously - one run last year used the road fom hebden bridge over widdop. i was going to include pendle hill on my run but it didn't quite fit in. i would like to do one to cover those areas plus the trough of bowland - maybe next time

Nothing wrong with Burnley- wonderful place where men are men and women know their place-(or so the manager that I had the luck to work under thought- not a nice man)- had a wonderful view of Pendle Hill from the back of the house. For my sins I moved to Barrow in Furness (where men are.............) before gravitating to Liverpool!

Would love to revisit the old place.
