United-Kingdom New MINI Severns Run - Glastonbury - Sun 18 Jul 04 - Post Event Pics and Chit Chats

Ok folks, heres the thread to sign up for our July run. We have decided to make this a tour of Chew Valley Lake then onto Weston Super Mare. Here we are hoping to stop for an hour or so - time to check out the peir etc. Then it will be a scenic drive up through the Chedar Gorge and across the Mendips before dropping down into Wells and finally Glastonbury (last one up the Torr is a sissy!)

Final details of the route are up, see below. we are going to meet at the Carpenters Arms just off the A37 at Chelwood Bridge in Stanton Wick for 12 noon for lunch and then on.

For those coming from Wales I wil arange a meeting point nearer for you so I can guide you to the pub if you are not sure how to get there. UPDATE: see hotel info below. Will guide from the hotel to the Carpenters Arms now.

Paul

UPDATE 1

The dining room of the Carpenters Arms has been booked for 12 noon for lunch. Menus are below now and we do need to choose before hand. Please let me know your choices. As well as the menu there is also a Sunday lunch menu which consists of either Beef or Lamb at £9.95 or Pork at £8.95. Rooms are avialable the night before if anyone wishes to stay there the night before - please pm for details. Just as a point of interest the eating area is called Coopers Parlour - how apt.

UPDATE 2a 10 Jun 04 by DK as requested by minisoopercooper

Designated overnight hotel is now Premier Lodge Bristol Airport, 50 GBP per room exclusive of breakfast.

Overnighters who have made their reservations:

UPDATE 3 - RUN NOTES POSTED
I have posted the notes up for you all to look over - I will however be giving everyone notes on the day including pictures of each junction. This means you can see at each point if you are lost.

Of course the idea is we stay in a fairly tight convoy and dont loose anyone! If any of you have walkie talkies please bring these with you and we will be tuned to channel 6-0.

I have also posted an autoroute version of the notes. Please note! This may not be 100% accurate on 2 counts.

1 its my 1st time using autoroute
2 there are so many country lanes on the route it is almost impossible to pick the right one on the map!

However the autoroute will get you to where we are going.

The run will finish at the Rose and Portcullis in Butliegh, which is just outside of Glastonbury.

Really looking for ward to seeing you all on Sunday. If for any reason you cannot make it at the last minute please let me know so we can cancel your meals - I will be on line at 11am but no later on Sunday.

Paul

Unfortunately I cant make this one - I will be on Grafham water instead

Just watch out for all the Sunday drivers - they all seem to congregate on the Chew Lake picnic area

Back with a bigger boot
