Ok peeps, following ethusiasm I've read in the general forum and sharing various pm's with others on here I'd thought I'd take the first move of trying to arrange a Derby meet.
So as not to clash with other meets in the midlands I thought that maybe the last thursday in every month would maybe be an easy day to remember.
Due to Euro 2004 and just generally the timing I suggest that maybe July 29th would maybe be a good starting point.
Plz post any suggestions here of any places/pubs or dates you feel would be a good for a meeting place. I have 2 pubs that come to mind, one being the Bonnie Prince just past Chellaston (on the A50 roundabout) which serves great food but gets rather busy due to being so popular and the other being The Jonty Farmer (Kedleston Rd - easy access A38) which also serves food and has good parking facilities
Depending on the interest generated, I will see if we could arrange a "MINI discount" at pub we decide on.
Only an idea in the making, Derby is long overdue a meet. Plz post all your thoughts here.
Update 7th July
Map of meeting point to follow. ( Jonty Farmer, Kedleston Road ) Thurs Aug 12th 7.30 pm
one suggestion from chris was that it was the third thursday so that derby and leicester meets wouldn't be so close together for peeps that want to attend both although i wouldn't be able to make it in july if it was before the 29th b/c i'm in japan
not sure of my way round the pubs in derby itself yet, but there are a couple in mackworth that look reasonable (and easy access- A38, A52) or the yew tree in ednaston is nice (and has a big car park) although that's a bit futher out of derby.
There are also a couple of pubs at Pride Park, which would be easily accessible to people and have masses of parking!!
Is it worth running a poll so that everyone can have there say on favoured dates and locations? I am more than happy to help out in any way I can in order to get this off the ground.
how do you get to pride park? is it round the dreaded ring road?
as much as i'm really up for this i might have to miss the first one- got a very hectic time atm with A levels and then going away for 2 weeks as soon as school finishes...
i'll definitely be able to make it on a regular basis though
I don't live in Derby nor work in Derby but I have bought me MCS from Bridgegate Derby if that counts! I actually live in Mansfield and work in Notts. My new mini is due for Sept on the new plate. Can't wait!
I'm also of the view that Hooters is not such a good idea (Nottingham bunch are going there). Good for the lads I guess??
I hope what ever pubs you choose to go to they are easy to find. I always seem to get lost in Derby.
Just as a matter of interest... (carring on from the previous thread about the amount of minis in Derby). Whats the average mini count on your run to work each day? From Mansfield to Beeston I see an average of 5 minis vs 6 audi TTs, Porsches are too common to count!
Seeing as many peps seem to get lost in Derby I think it could be a good idea to meet at either of the two pubs next door to Bridgegate MINI - as they should know where that is
either:
The Master Locksmith on the small island next to the Cinema/Focus DIY and opposite the back of BMW
or continue through the lights behind BMW and up to the pub on the flyover (whats it called ... is it the Paddocks? )

MCS, DS/B, 17's, Skirts, Xenons, fogs, Privacy, White lights, Leather, Climate, Heated screen, 6 CD, Multi S/Wheel, Cruise, DSC, OBC, head bags ... think that's about it
