England Doncaster Mini Register

Following recent comments in the forum about the register, requests for details etc. i have decided to put them out in the open. I launched the register on August 1st, and we currently have 35 members.
It was set up to cater for New Mini owners in the Doncaster area, to limit numbers, and therefore time running the club. however, we do have members from all over Yorkshire. It is meant to cater for owners in Doncaster, and numbers will be limited. if you live in the Doncaster or Yorkshire area, please feel free to enquire about membership. There is a fee of £ 10.00 per year to cover expences.
We had a run to the Humber Bridge on the first meet, the next one being Clumber Park in September. We also have a 10 car stand at Mini in the Park at Silverstone. we have a lot going on. Our own website will be launched shortly with a possible link from Mini2.
The club is meant for New Mini's, but if we have enough enquiries we may extend this to classic Mini's aswell. Please let me know if interested.
You can send me details through this site, or post them with your details to 325 Thorne Road, Doncaster, DN2 5AP, enclose photos if possible, and i will send you all the information. Events will be members only, so please bear this in mind.

Hope to hear from interested parties soon, cheers, Jason (DMR)

Hi Jas,

Just an observation, but will the name change depending on the
amount of intrest recieved from older shaped mini owners?

On certain forms the heading is donaster mini register,
others it's doncaster new mini register, has this been done intentionally?

Is this now the official thread for the club then?

I thought Classic Minis had their own Doncaster club -

Doncaster Mini Club

Can you not pass enquiry's from classic owners on to their club?

Regards

Silver Black message for classic mini owners

having considered options, i have decided to keep the Doncaster Mini Register for new Mini's only. I don't know details, but there is apparantly already a club in Doncaster for classic Mini's. I found this out when applying for a club stand at Silverstone, the organisers had details of the Doncaster Mini Owners Club. Classic Mini owners should endeavour to join this club instead.
However, if you know of, or are part of this club, please get in touch. I see no reason why the clubs cannot get together for meets, and other events. I believe this would be good for both organisations. So get in touch with me here, or prefarably through official DMR web site at www.doncasterminiregister.co.uk (contact Jason).

this should put the record straight.
Cheers
DMR

Well Done that man

Good one Jason. I am not against classic minis as I love them but I was beginning to worry that you might be stepping on someone elses toes if the DNMR had accepted classics.

I have some information for you about the classic clubs. Click on this link -

http://www.minibits.com/clubs/yorkshire.htm

You will see that there is the Doncaster District Mini Club and Strictly Minis Doncaster Mini Owners' Club. Both of them cater for classics and this site even has contact details for you if you wish to liaise with them.

Hope this helps

Regards
Merlin 2

P.S. see you on the Clumber park run

Hi Jas,

I was thinking along the same lines, its not that i don't like or want Old minis to join
the DNMR, is more the worry that we might upset a few people. But i'm sure
the last two posts will have put the record straight.

Future events - update

MINI45 a great success, had a good club stand with one of our cars being selected as a GoMini feature car, possible December issue, keep an eye out for it.
Next run is a visit to Mini Sport in Burnely on October 2nd, members only please!!!
We are having a pub meet that evening, everybody welcome, will confirm venue a.s.a.p.
Lakes weekend end of October may become a driving day on the Sunday (end of October). If this is the case will open it up to non - members as well. If anybody has experience of good roads up there, please pm me with a good route. Must have pubs for pit stops on the way.
Factory tour confirmed for December 15th, members only and max of 30. Will sort out second day if over subscribed.
So if you are a new Mini owner in South Yorkshire, and need a club visit us directly on
www.doncasterminiregister.co.uk. We are growing all the time, 38 members at last count. Come and be part of it.

Cheers

Membership currently stalled at 40 cars, so if you live in Doncaster, or round about (we have members in Sheffield, Leeds, Hull etc) then get on line at www.doncasterminiregister.co.uk to find out what's going in in the area.
We have monthly pub meets on second Thursday of every month, next one is 11th November at Sportsman in Armthorpe. from 8.00pm.
We have a run to the East Coast on November 21st. Open to non members as well, but please indicate interest by PM on this site. Taking in Bridlington, coast road to Scarborough, and then back cross country to York, before return to Doncaster.
Decembers pub meet is Christmas do, buffet, secret Santa, etc and is members only!!!
Then we will be attending indoor Mini Fair at the end of January before the 2005 year kicks off properly.
Hope to see you all there, and if you are interested in membership go on the site and chack us out.
Jas, organiser
