North East Mini Club Mini Mania 2004 - 19th Sept

Just thought I'd add this to the forum as well as the calendar, as we don't seem to have made Mini Mag/Mini World this year - has anyone else noticed they seem to be publishing earlier and earlier - October's edition was available before September!

Anyway - down to business...

This years Mini Mania event will be on Sunday 19 September 10 am - 4.30 pm at Seaburn Recreation Park in Sunderland. Entry is £5 per car (no matter how many people you cram in!), with traders, concours, show & shine, autojumble, live band, raffle etc.

Directions - basically follow the A19 until you see signs for the A1231 Sunderland/Roker. Follow all signs to Roker, and then head onto the A183. The showground is right next to the Marriot Hotel on the seafront (where the Air Show is held).Hope to see you there!

There's no camping on site, but camping is available along the road at Lizard Lane Camp/Caravan park (opposite the Marsden Grotto - towards South Shields on the A183), and there's B&B/Hotels a short walk along the other way of the A183 (towards Roker/Sunderland).

For further details on our website at http://www.northeastminiclub.co.uk or via nemc@northeastminiclub.co.uk

Thanks,
Craig.

Craig - How welcome will new MINI's be?

Most of us are fan's of classics as well, but when you go these events the new one was about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit.

We've had a few folk go along to join established clubs who say that new mini's are welcome, only to get there and get the cold shoulder.

Or have relationships mellowed?

Stew.

Put it this way, I own both a classic clubman 1275 and a BMW Cooper S - and I'm chairman - so I say things have mellowed alright!

Seriously, there are about 10 of our members have BMW versions and they'll be there.

All variations are welcome and there's even a concours/trophy class for BMWs - we normally invite the Goldwing motorcycles and kit car clubs amongst others too, just to add a bit variety.

Well, as we are driving to a Rugby match in Newcastle in any case that afternoon, we might as well pop in for an hour in the morning. ( Came a few years ago wih our old Classic ).

Might even be brave enough to bring the New MINI onto the site....Or not....

It is a good day out! If nothing else, it's forecast for sun in the north east this weekend! As I've said before, if you're doubting, then you're a two thirds to turning up, the other third is missing out!

Remember how the larger events first started...
