Minnie is clean once again! I charged into some hand car wash place in desperation as it was closing at 5.30pm this afternoon....."please clean my car" I begged with a smile and a flicker of my eyelashes What a flirt I am but it got Minnie clean, but I have to say not the best wash in the world but what do you expect for a fiver!
Max and I did the final recce this morning, started shortly after 09:00h, and the roads were empty!
That did not stop the frigging lights from working as normal though, which was frustrating, especially when you could see clear roads ahead, and there are MANY frigging lights!
The route took about 1.5h, and we stopped at Waterloo Bridge and Lincoln's Inn Fields. We stopped at Blackfrier's Bridge too, but a bit concerned as it is double red line and a bus lane
Took the wrong turn around Buck House, and Max waited while I went round the roundabout again, and in no time, a bobby appeared and told him he could not wait there! Classic
It will be quite difficult to stop except for Waterloo Bridge and Lincoln's Inn Fields. We may be able to sneak into the coach park by St. Paul's, however, we may be asked to move along in no time
Just hope tomorrow is equally good as today - car and weather wise
Need to wash Apple down tomorrow morning - just a quite rinse would do!
Have a good time peeps - I'll be there with you in spirit only.
Unfortunately my irresistable charms are required 70 miles away from central London,
and I'd be liable to an unthinkable boycotting if I were to join you.
I'll be looking out for some great pics this time tomorrow.
First opportunity to get through to MINI2 today, so a belated BIG THANK YOU to everyone who participated in the run this morning
Whoever says Central London cannot be done, well, we have certainly proved them wrong
It helped that:
* it is one of the quietest day in Central London
* we only have 8 cars
* EVERYONE was equiped with a 2-way radio
We had so many "Oooo, look at the MINIs" today I lost count, even the bobbies around Buck House gave us a smile the first time we went past
Highlights of the run for me, in no particular order:
* Strand/Aldwych Underpass, twice
* Shouting down the radio in my best bossy moo voice, "Lawrance, you'd better come to the front behind me", PMSL (soz, Loz, but that was really funny thinking about it now)
* Clear blue sky
* Not a single wrong turn or U-turn! (ok, this could read "boring" to some )
* Up Ludgate Hill towards St. Paul's
* Waterloo Bridge for the photos
* Parliament Square
* The expression on the faces of the police and crowd outside Buck House as we drove past
* Changing of the Guard (I have never seen it until today!)
All in all, a very good day out, and I have to say this has to be Apple's Best Run in 2004
Woohoo sounds like a great run!! Well done DK and Max for good organising!!
Last night I set my alarm for 8am, and was all set to jump in my car and surpirse you this morning (evil child aren't I ) but when it came to it, i didn't feel well enough to drive up to London!
Anwyay....looking forward to some pics!! Hope you all had fun, will see most of you on the 9th!
I have thoroughly enjoyed myself today DK and not forgetting Max of course!
Many thanks for the use of the radio (told Mr Mouse all about them, *hint, hint*) and for looking after us all
I just loved the looks on the tourists faces as we stopped on the bridges!
Here are my pics......
