England Motor Show to move to London Docklands

On our BBC local news, (Radio WM), the Motor Show is to move from the NEC in Birmingham to the London Docklands.

The new venue is smaller than the NEC and less central to the country. Another example of London gets it all?

New Wembley stadium, Olympic Bid, Millennium Dome, lottery money, etc etc

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

And they jusy happen to announce this on the day that the olimpic inspectors are in town.

Don't think it will be as good as birmingham, but I'll still go if we can go in convoy like before as well.

NEC was too big, too m uch dross IMO, a smaller more focussed show sounds a good idea - and London for a change, good news, Birmingham gets all the big expos

If we decide to invade the show during week day, peeps will not need to pay the Congestion Charge as Docklands is outside the charging zone, unless you travel out from Central London to get to it like I would have to

problem with earls court apart from size was the cost put on the exhibitor to get the cars into the arena. my uncle used to run Jensen UK and it was a very expensive venue, small stand and much more expensive than NEC

London is the Capital City - like it or not - always has been so it will get these events. If folks don't like it then move to London, if they prefer living where they do then enoy it and stop moaning about other places and no, I don't live in London.

There was a show in Brum last year so there would normally be a London show this year but it has been cancelled in recent years but does this mean Birmingham next year is still on.

Oh and speaking of the capital of southern england do we get our trains back if the bid fails or are they going to spend our money on London village?

It appears they have taken over Motorexpo an event thats been running for 10 years now worth a visit to the site just to play with the car cursor graphics.

http://www.motorexpo.co.uk/

Oh and the show is free according to there site

No way they mean the 2006 show so no more Birmingham that sucks but then again the NEC is a dump last years show was pretty dull hardly any traders dammed expensive and I have to do two exhibitions a year there.

Dont know if I could be bothered to come to London allthough I dont mind a trek.

The NEC must have upset the show organisers probably wanted to much money they charge us enough.

I would have actually preferred Brum to London...even though I'm closer to London! I just liked the drive there...easier than getting to London if you ask me.
Oh well, just one of those things. Let's hope it's better this year then
