Matrog's Run to the Sun - Bank Holiday Monday (2nd May 2005)

Well this is basically because I fancy a trip to the seaside, and have very little else planned for the upcoming Bank Holiday, and thought it might be fun to head off to the coast for the day with a few friends (you guys)

At the moment, I am undecided about where to go, which is the reason for the poll at the top of the page.
Anyone interested in joining me for a day out, please sign up below and pack your bucket and spade! Oh, and vote for your preferred destination too, or suggest your own to be considered

I am currently planning to be leaving my home town at about 9am, possibly meeting other peeps en-route to the coast (Maybe meet up at service stations on the way). First meeting point would be Hopwood Park Services at 9:15am (Junction 2 of M42). Other stops depend on the final destination.

Update - Looks like the plan now will be to arrive on the South Coast about midday (hopefully before), meeting Arron (MINI POSER) for a spot of lunch. That to be followed by a drive through the New Forest (I'm relying on Arron for directions here), and then some time on the beach (weather permitting)

Can't make it as Max is moving flat that weekend

I'll keep you posted though as he may be so well organised that everything is unpacked and sorted by Sunday!

BTW, being BH, the roads will be very busy, especially those leading to the seaside towns.

We had a taste of what it was like during Easter weekend, when Max and I went to Southend for a day out, bad move!

Aim to set off and arrive very early, otherwise all the parking spaces will be gone!

Barton-on-Sea Matt?!

Good choice!

I say if you and t'other Matt want to come down to mine, you can relax for bit after your journey, have a snack, then we can head down to the beach, then back to that pub Matt the Younger, which was on my run....and then...stuff later on? Not sure about the evening...ideas....

Cool?

Right.

Using Doras very good advice, if you get down early, you could attend Dave's racing meet and run at Ringwood Raceway: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88625

Then after that we could go back to mine, recover, chill and then head down to the beach?
