I originally signed up for this but will now have to back out, a friend of mine is getting married in Greece in June which has drained my funds and my holiday allowance. I hope you all have a really great time if the run happens.

Apologies

No problem Tom, it hasn't caught the imagination I thought it would. I guess heading south has a greater attraction.

I think realistically it will not go ahead - Soggy's post was the first in four months, and I need more commitment than that to make it a success.

Never mind, there's always next year!

This would be a great run.

We did the whole Arctic circle job and up to Nord Cap (North Cape) in mid August a few years ago with the caravan. just over 6000 miles in six weeks.
It was fantastic, beautiful scenery and great friendly people.

We can not do this year - in fact we are in southern Sweden with the GP the week before this event.

Harpo
If you are planning something for next year in the school holidays we would seriously consider joining you.

Hmmn, I had the money set back for this but it seems like there will only be a couple of people going. Should I still be taking this seriously? If there are any doubts about it hapenning then I would prefer to know sooner rather than later. Of course if it gets delayed a year, sign me up automatically...

Hi Paul, I think that we'll have to postpone this, I think that we need 10-12 cars to make it a real event. Simply compare the posts on the Dolomites thread!

As snowie said, maybe a bit later in the year (school holidays) may result in a greater interest.

I have kept it open as long as possible, and would still love to do it, but we need more people like you!

PS. Just get the Cooper D - it;s going to be 'sensational'. Not my words, but those of somebody in the know.

Okay then, Thanks anyway! If you start another possible run (maybe in the holidays) then put me down automatically. I am in a gap year between universities so its pretty likely I can move my timetable around yours. Am buying a house soon but I am trying to leave the funds intact to take this run on too. Also, maybe the holidays might be a better time of year for 10-12 runners, just a shame about losing the midnight sun!

Lol, am about to start another thread to ask if people think I may be able to afford an MCS in the next year or so after buying a new motorbike (and leaving back some cash for either modding or a sports car!)

Have already booked a Cooper D test drive however...

Hi Paul,

This would be a fantastic event for next year, and a whole year to organise it .... A four year old convertible to the Arctic circle would be great fun

Hi Guys
The last time (5 years ago) I was in the Arctic circle we went all the way to Nord cap with the caravan it was mid August

The sun dropped over the horizon at 0020 and was back up again less than 60 mins later - it never went dark at all.

Absolutely fantastic scenery, road quality left something to be desired as road works happen in the summer months so all of a sudden you would come across a long section of road where it had been planned ready for resurfacing. The reverse speed humps are also interesting - road subsides and all you see to give you any warning is a few black tyre marks.

We drove the whole way from Calais up into southern Sweden (I did some work in Lund where I am based) and then straight up the centre of Sweden into Finland and then on into Norway.

Would love to do it again, so count me us for next year

Snowie (Alan & Jan)

Is this on the cards for 2008? Any thoughts on dates? We have some Norwegian friends who come from up north - they even recommend camping up there! She Who Must Be Obeyed works at a school, so we'd hope for school holidays - even though this would be after the midsummer.....

I would make sure you budget for £3k.

£2k of that will buy you half a pint of shandy each day!
