Offline | Tick...Tock... Run the one where Jon proposes to Shel Everything you need to know is in this first post Important Information Run Etiquette Notes: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37052 Please read through the thread above in full before attending the run. Here are some particularly important points for this run: Fill up with petrol before you make your way to Park Lane MINI THERE ARE NO LOO STOPS Go before we go, if you know what I meanThis is a steady drive on public roads and through residential areas in places. Please take it easy, enjoy the sights as we drive through and past some of the most famous landmarks in London, and drive legally, safely and considerately to other road users and residents At all times, follow the Highway code and be extra curtious to other road users and padestrian (many of whom step out onto the road without looking). Police will look out for a large number of cars together and joyfully pounce on illegal driving. Additionally, because of hightened security in central London, there are many police officers and patrol cars around. They have a tough job to do, and are extremely busy, and we don't want to add to their work-load in any way Good driving tip (from a Cabbie) to anyone not used to driving in London: Be confident, assertive, use your indicators like your life (and your car) depends on it, and take care of the nose of your car Even at that time of night, there are many cyclists and motorbikes around. Be extra vigilant! If you are leading a pack, always look out for the cars behind you, especially after a turning/junction/crossing If you are in the middle of a pack, make sure you wait for the car behind you after a turning/junction/crossing. Flash the car in front to indicate that you are slowing down to let the others to catch up If you see someone flashing you in your rear mirror, slow down, and flash the car in the front etc. If the car behind you slows down, please slow down with it. If each car does this, then it will ensure that the convoy stays together Do not overtake other members of the Run unless they request you to pass them. Indicate early and follow the indication of the car in front of you as soon as you see it to give as much notice to the person behind you as possible. Flash the car in front of you if you need to pull over (for example, if you've lost the person behind you), and pull over when it's safe to do so BUT beware of road markings as we do go through quite a few Red Routes Please bring a London A-Z with you if at all possible If you're running late, or if you decide to leave the run before the end, please let your Sweeper and/or Goonery know asap Sweepers On the night of the run, the "sweepers" - who will have been on either or both recces and so are more familiar with the route - will be interspersed throughout the line up and will keep an eye on between the 4/5 cars immediately behind them. Don't worry if you get split up by traffic lights etc. as the sweeper will go slow or pull over and make sure you catch up. So many MINIs around town so to help us stick out from the pack, there will be a small reflective strip in the goody-bag which can go on the back screen. The sweepers will have 2 strips. Please put those on the back in the shape of a cross (heavens help us) A copy of the run order will also be in the goody-bags, with the name and number of the sweeper who'll be keeping an eye out for you. . A massive 'thank you' once again to all those who have agreed to help on the night) Sweepers 1. Goonery 2. Minnie Mouse 3. Mini Cabrio UK 4. BlackBini 5. HyperActive 6. Carlos from Park Lane 7. Lukas from Park Lane 8. Julia from Park Lane 9. Pappillon Nibbles & Drinks Park Lane MINI - 10pm MINI Park Lane have offered their re-vamped showroom to host a pre-run get-together. The showroom is pretty impressive, with a fair number of MINIs on display, including - of course - the limited-edition Park Lane MINIs. A handful of staff from the dealership will be at the event, and some of their sales staff will be accompanying us on the run in the limited-addition MINIs. If you have any, please bring your business cards as there will be a raffle draw for a remote-controlled MINI. Thanks to Fiona, Julia, Carlos and Lucas for all their help so far in getting this together for us. It's been decided that it would be best to pay Park Lane MINI for the catering costs upfront (£672.70; £10 per person) and therefore the money needs to be collected before the run. Plus, it would be good not to have the distraction of having to collect money from everyone on the night. If for whatever reason any of you do not make it on the night, your money will cover the catering costs and will not become a burdon on those who attend. Also, because of the timing of the run, it will be difficult to get the reserves in on such late notice. Any money collected over the catering expenses will be donated to Childline ![]() Food: Cocktail sausages in honey and grain mustard Spring roll served with chilli sauce Ricotta and spinach parcels MINI mince piesChicken satay served with spicy peanut dip Drinks: Tea and coffee Still & sparkling water Coca-cola, Fanta & Sprite cans Selection of non-alcoholic cocktails:
Goody-Bags: Couple of bits & bobs from the dealerSurprise from Pappi Two waitresses will be on hand to do the Ferrero Rocher tray thing Now all that's left is finding a way to stop the wonderful manager of PLM from giving a speech! Sponsored Charity In the usual spirit of MINI2 runs, it would be good to make some sort of contribution to a good cause, and we've chosen Childine. A box will be made available on the night for your loose change, spare notes etc. Please give generously as Childline is a fantastic organization which will be very busy at this time of year. We've just added up the notes, coines and cheques. Thank you for being so generous, especially Chris and Jax who had a whip round at work Total amount you guys raised (not including the RC Mini which we have to auction) is: £421.60 Parking A 300-car capacity carpark about 5 minutes' walk from the showroom has agreed to reserves spaces for us (40 cars) between 9.45pm and midnight. It's a Citipark, the Audley Square Car Park in South Audley Street. They seem keen on the fact that we will be helping Childline as part of our day of fun and have agreed to a discount. The charge will be £5 per car instead of £10. Please use this carpark so that we can all set off together. If you have any problems, please tell the security guard that the arrangement was made with Christian Mason, the Sales Executive To get to the carpark, drive south down Park Lane (i.e. from Marble Arch end towards Hyde Park Coner) and turn left into Curzon Street after you pass the showroom & the Dorchester Hotel (it's the second left after the Dorchester) but before you get to Hyde Park Corner, then take the first left into South Audley Street and the car park will be on your right-hand side. To get out of the car park and back onto Park Lane, turn left out of the carpark, then take the second right into Stanhope Gate which will feed you directly into Park Lane. To assist the carpark attendant identify you as part of the group, I have attached a 'card' which you can print out and pop on your dash (it's the doggy picture ) Goonery will leave a few copies at the gate for those who forget etc.The Run Midnight, on the dot! We aim to leave Park Lane MINI at 11.30pm and make our way to the car park. Run 'maps' and a road-by-road description of the route will be enclosed in the goody-bags. It is going to be essential on the night - certainly for the first hour or so of the run - to use the maps/run notes to navigate the route. Confirmed 1.2. Pappillon + Ruthie - £20 Paid 3.4. Offline | Welcome aboard the Love Boat ![]() ![]() Sunday might be tricky for a lot of people but I thought I'd include it as an option in case enough people are on holiday around Christmas time to be able to join in and, of course, the traffic is quieter ![]() |
