The Darkerness - Chat, banter, scare mongering and accomodation information.

This post will be updated with accomodation details when available.

Please use this thread for general Darkness Run III banter.

I'd also like to get an idea here, if possible, if people would be keen to eat afterwards, and if they'd also probably want to stay over in a hotel etc. so they can have a few beers etc. at the end of the run.

Main thread for registering for the event is here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...76#post1828676

HOTELS

The closest hotel to the end point, which will be the Xscape Centre in Central Milton Keynes is a Travel Inn. This is directly opposite the Xscape Centre and a 2 minute walk so is probably the most convenient, and a reasonable price too.

Contact details are :

Travel Inn - Milton Keynes Central
Secklow Gate West
Central Milton Keynes
Buckinghamshire
MK9 3BZ

T: 08701 977 184
F: 01908 607481

You can book directly on the website here if you wish : http://www.premiertravelinn.com/pti/...?hotelId=23901

If you want a higher standard of hotel there is a Holiday Inn also in Central Milton Keynes, but this is a 15-20 minute ( depending how many beers you've had ) walk away - it does however offer far superior facilities including pool, sauna, gym etc so might be more appealing to those travelling a distance ( Scotland ........ ). They are also offering some good deals right now so you can book in advance at a price similar or in some cases cheaper than the Travel Inn

Contact details are:

Holiday Inn
MILTON KEYNES
500 SAXON GATE WEST
MILTON KEYNES, MK9 2HQ
ENGLAND
Tel: 44-870-4009057
Fax: 44-1908-674714
Email: reservations-miltonkeynes@ichotelsgroup.com

Or to book online where you get the best deals go here ....... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/925/en/hd/mlkbk

PLEASE NOTE : WE HAVE NOT ARRANGED ANY SPECIAL DEALS AT EITHER HOTEL SO QUOTING MINI2 AND THE DARKERNESS RUN WILL JUST GET WEIRD LOOKS RATHER THAN A DISCOUNT

There are loads of other hotels within Milton Keynes but these two offer the closest locations to the end of the run where we will then be enjoying a beer or two.

Please - no roads with streetlights and how about a walk through a dark forest this time too?

You're not far off some of my thinking this time actually.

Not sure what's "do-able" though, so wont say too much more just now.

I wouldn't mind staying at the c0ck again - although a bit pricey, it's worth it if a few are planning on drinkies on the night. Would defo want to eat too - the Thai was quite good

Not sure about the c0ck due to problems with food last time (a lack of it, basically), but I hope to sort something decent and with character if they can't help out this time.

I could finish in Central Milton Keynes and have a choice of hotels (Travel Lodge, Holiday Inn types) in walking distance of the food places, but then again we could go for somewhere like the **** which offers more character and a bit more local charm over city plastic pubs and eateries?

Considering making this run a shorter run than last years, as I was worried some felt the last one was too long, but what do those who made it last year and plan to come this year again think?

I thought the run last year was the perfect length, but then I did only join up at Woburn . Stoney was ok for a finishing point, and food at the Tex Mex place was nice.

If I can get food better organised I like Stony too, and the hotels are nice. There's also options for the centre of MK (which I just feel is too charmless city centre), Newport Pagnell, or the village just outside MK where Abi's work are based, which has two very nice pubs (one of which is also a hotel).
