MINI only annual Camp over & meet up, thoughts and ideas!

Living not far from Billing Aquadrome in Northampton, I see almost every weekend an assorment of cars, from mini classic, through Japanese tuned rockets, American muscle cars and any other variation you care to think of!
Billing Aquadrome seems a popular event for car clubs to have meets at, where people with common car interests meet up, camp, get merry, talk shop and wax lyrical about there steed of choice!

I don't know if this is something that may be an idea as a stand alone, or maybe to coincide with a MINI run (perhaps too big! given the potential), but what do you guys think about it our there!

I think due to time constraints I personally wouldn't have the time to do it, but perhaps
MINI2.COM as an entity would find it worthy of consideration.

Publicity would be needed perhaps, in the likes of GoMINI, sitings put in MINI showrooms if possible etc....

Quite a few runs happen in the area, it's fairly central for England and has good access to the road network. Facilities on site are good with a small fairground type thing.

What do you think?

The idea of a MINI only static show with activities had been discussed recently. Not sure if anyone or group of people are progressing with this, as it boils down to time, committment, availability and money.

Have a look at this thread:
http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-ireland-discussion-event-planning/91561-mini2-show.html

BTW, International New MINI Meet will take place in UK next year 2006, and this is being organised by a group of people from www.MINI2mini.org, so keep you eyes open for future development!

Thanks for that Dora, have seen the thread!

I guess the problem with the international is time and cost!
A UK event, as mentioned in the other thread has good advantages for the UK owners (supplier stands).
Billing Aquadrome seems a very popular site, both with regional & national clubs.

As runs go, always a good start point.

HAT also mentioned on the site, about a weekend, a bit of display, a bit of runs, a bit of everything.
I will make a preliminary call to Billing Aquadrome to get an idea of cost availability etc... and report back end of week, as the events organiser is back in on Thursday.

Meanwhile, anyone else got more views?

Maybe a camp over and meet up rather than hotel prior to Soggy's possible 12th August '06 Cotswold IV could be a good start!?

Hmmm.....

I like my creature comforts - so Billing would be great as I can then go home

Billing does have great facilities for these events and stages them regularly. I'm happy to support it on the sidelines but not be a main organiser as I have enough of a struggle with time constraints already

I can help out with button name badges by the way

I have purchased a 2 1/4in button name badge maker from US, and am about to collect it and blanks from the GPO

I can make badges at cost with no set up fees, and shall throw in the ink, paper and elbow grease for free, just charge for the blaml badges Plenty of notice required though as I have a day job
