| MINI2 Cotswolds 4 - August 19th 2006 - POST RUN PICS UP *** THANK YOU EVERYONE *** Thanks for a great day and for so many folks turning up - it was an awesome sight seeing just so many MINIs And good news ........... We've blown away what we raised last year which is great. This is a run and fun weekend and all fundraising is ancillary, it's not THE objective if the day. But we raised through the auction, stickers and lunch time parking at total of £603.09 PROFIT This broke down as : £918.09 raised £140.00 sticker costs £175.00 Kingham school charge ( i'll be after a rebate though given the barrier was down and toiltes locked ) Balance - £603.09 Many thanks to all of you for your donations and in particular to the auction bidders who raised over £400 on the night ![]() Some of you may not have got a sticker ( with this years logo on it) so if you want one then please make a donation tehn send me a SAE and I will send you one. Also some of you may have missed Paul's collection for the lunch stop so may be racked with guilt at not paying and want to make amends If so you can also donate. But how do we pay Bob I hear you all clammering to ask Visit here and you can pay directly - plus if you are UK based we can reclaim your tax through giftaid ! http://www.justgiving.com/mini2charityball07 Thank you all once again ![]() ** ROUTE CHANGE ** The section from Sifields to the Balloon Festival has been updated so please download this again if you already have done so. Thanks PACENOTES ARE UP As there are too many documents too attach to one post there is a separate thread with all the pacenotes needed for the entire weekend, for what promises to be a Most Massive MINI weekend of fun Click here for all the information you need : http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-irelan...mentation.html Thanks Bob ************************************************ Update The Grand Finale for the Cotswolds this year as it has been confirmed now .......... The Northampton Balloon Festival is on the same day as the Cotswolds Run - it runs over 3 days and attracts some 250,000 people, of which they reckon at least 100,000 attend on the Saturday. http://www.northamptonballoonfestiva...ault/index.asp They have a big arena where various shows take place during the day - well that is where the Cotswolds Run will end this year They'd like us to motorcade into the arena, cruise around a while and park up for folks to view the cars - Harley Davidsons did it last year ! There will be a police escort from Sixfields to the showground so everyone can convoy in together. We will be on at 4.30pm so I'll be aiming to get the Cotswolds Runners back to Sixfields for about 4.00pm and then we go from there. This is a great chance to showboat your MINI in front of thousands of folks After the arena we will have a reserved (free ) parking area where folks can park up before enjoying the balloons set off on the 6.00pm flight - then back to the hotel for beers and nosebags For those not doing the run itself but maybe would like to join this adventure you will be able to meet us at the re-group point prior to convoying into to the Festival - see here http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-irelan...-festival.html ***************************** 25/06 Update OK, the route was finalised today - subject to a last minute dry run to check for any unexpected roadworks etc ........ I can confirm ..... 1) The start point will be Warwick Services NORTHBOUND on the M40 between J12 & 13. There's only 4 miles between 12 & 13 so it's not a big detour to continue to one and turn around to get on the correct side!! 2) Picnic lunch is confirmed at Kingham Hill School again - bring your own food and drink supplies 3) I will provide a route from Northampton to Warwick for those Friday nighting at the hotel - and this time I've made it a little more entertaining than the normal dual carriage way convoy to the start point 4) There are two fords - and thanks to the drought one is dry and the other a trickle! 5) Bourton on the Water will, of course, be visited ![]() Exact timings are still to be confirmed but I currently anticipate ....... 1) Northampton to Warwick convoy DEPARTS 8.45 am 2) Puddlers head off 10.10 3) Main group leave at 10.20 4) Nutters playing catch up leave at 10.30! 5) We MUST leave Kingham by 2.00pm to ensure we are at Sixfields ready for Balloon Festival convoy by 4.00pm latest. *************** It will be a Saturday Run again as the overwhelming feedback from Cotswold 3 was people preffered this. It will be a picnic lunch, it will take in some fabulous scenery, it will provide some very narrow twisties, it will provide some fast open winding roads, it will provide a chance to pose with all the tourists, it will be a lot of cars, it will be a great day out, it will be fun, it will be ................ another Cotswolds Run It will not have the ford of death this time There will be a couple of "splash" fords but nothing deepSaturday Night Hotel will be the Park Inn in Northampton The Park Inn was formerly the Moat House. I have got a block allocation of 80 rooms at £54 for double or twin - room only. Breakfast can be bought in advance at £10 a head when booking if you wish to. Apparently there are also some business room upgrades available which cost £74 including breakfast so that works out the same as the double with brekkie option but I cant guarantee these upgrades will be available for long - it's always worth asking what other deals are available when booking. To book a room ring +44 1604 739988 and ask for reservations who are open 08:00-19:00. Request a room from the "MINI2" block. You can get the same rate for additional nights if you want to travel down early/stay late. Please ensure you do request it from the MINI2 allocation and please post here once you have booked in so we know who is stopping over. I think the Park Inn may now be out of rooms, it;s worth trying still to see if they have had any cancellations, but the Ibis is just opposite and just as handy - it's within crawling distance of the Park Inn bar Details here http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/ficheh...he_hotel.shtml Folks stopping Friday night will get the same rate - Friday night plans are here http://www.mini2.com/forum/uk-irelan...th-august.html Register names here please including you "real" name and name of any passengers There will be a group coming over from Belgium led by Morty and also a group from holland ![]() All the way from Belgium ...
