Offline | MINI campout @ Devil's Lake, WI We started this plan at the Milwaukee Rallye and now it's set up! Saturday, October 12th 2002 MINI's going camping! The Big Idea: It's a regular old-fashioned campout with a MINI twist... we'll be watching "The Italian Job" in the evening while roasting our marshmallows & eating our 'smores! Come one, come all! Devil's Lake is a beautiful park in Wisconsin near the Wisconsin Dells. The fall colors will be brilliant! See the website below for pictures and general park information. The Details: The plan is to meet at Devil's Lake about 12 PM for a Saturday lunch, enjoy the afternoon cruising around the area and seeing park sites. Then we will set up for dinner -- a regular cookout -- around 4 PM! Who's handy on the open grill? After dinner, we'll sit around the fire, and at dark enjoy the movie "The Italian Job" on a portable TV (with MINI providing the power of course as it's MINIs favorite movie!). We have two double, adjoining family campsites reserved (376 & 379 in the Ice Age area) for Saturday and one on Friday. This accommodates 6 on Friday and 12 on Saturday, but there are more campsites available in the same camp area if we need them. You are also welcome to get your own campsite & just join us for activities. There are showers in the park and restrooms in the camping area. Food & drink will be BYO, but we can share who brings what when we know who's coming. Each campsite costs about $20 and will be equally split between the people who come. Pets (within Park rules -- see site) and children are welcome. Additionally there is a fee for your car of about $10/day. A few of us will camp Friday (10/11) night as well, as we will be celebrating my birthday MINI style! You're welcome either day or both! Getting There: Depending on where you are coming from, we'd like to arrange to travel together... Milwaukee folks, Chicago folks and Minnesota folks should be able to meet up and travel down rallye style... a line of MINIs as far as the eye can see is a beautiful thing! All are welcome! Of course it goes without saying we'll take lots of MINI pictures, so bring your cameras! Please email me or send me a PM as soon as possible if you will be attending so we can make sure we have enough camp sites. Offline | My wife and I are thinking about coming for the movie and then heading home. Yeah, I know it's wimpy but we are not psychologically ready to camp out with two kids! Keep us posted. |

| Sebby's Mom | Hi All! The details are finally set for the Campout. They're available at the following http://www.bridger.us/MINI/files/devilsLk_campout.doc You must let me or Casey know by Thursday 10/10/02 if you're coming to spend the night. You're welcome to come for the day, one night or both, but if you're spending the night we need to be sure we have enough space/enough campsites. It's going to be a blast! Offline | It sounds like a fun time. Unfortunately, we have plans for Saturday night but are looking forward to making it for lunch and the afternoon drive at least. That's a great area of the state for a scenic MINI drive and Devil's Lake is a really nice park. If anybody out there wants to meet up in Milwaukee or Madison...or anywhere else along the way... and drive up together let me know. |
