Dear MINI People,

I've been in touch with Yoda, but wanted to suggest a possible MINI meet in August 2003 to everyone out there. Alliance, Ohio has a 1-1/2 hour long (lots and lots of units) parade in August of every year to celebrate the scarlet carnation, the official flower of the State of Ohio. Why Alliance? It was an Alliance flower expert who gave the scarlet carnation to William McKinley when he was campaigning in Canton. He continued to wear one every day until, you got it, the day he was shot in Buffalo.

Anyway, I'm working with a not-for-profit agency in town, Youth Music Alliance, which is working to provide band instruments for low-income kids to use at little or no cost so that they can participate in their school's instrumental program when they might otherwise not have been able to do so. The organization will be having a flatbed with a dixieland band to raise awareness of YMA, and encourage people with instruments in the attic to donate them. I have been in touch with the manager of our local large-screen theatre, who can get a good-quality print of The Italian Job, the old Michael Caine flick in which classic minis play a most prominent role. I'm trying to start early and hope to drum up some interest in a MINI (minis welcome too!!!!) meet in Alliance in August to participate in the parade. THis would give us a chance to show off the cars and support Youth Music Alliance. THe Italian Job would be showing at the Mount Union Theatre that weekend.

Hello There! What is the exact date of this MINI meet in Northern Ohio, and where exactly in Ohio is it going to be held? I am strongly involved with setting up meets with the Mid-Atlantic MINI's organization in Maryland. However I will be in the Cincinnati area from the 15-22 of this month with my MINI. I would love to attend an out of state MINI event!

we are pencil-ing down an event in Cleveland for November 9th at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm still working on details, but I will post more info on this board when I can. It's one of hopefully many more events for motorers in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana area, but everyone will invited (including the 'burgh folks).

BTW, contact the Cincinnati Dealership, 513.271.8700 and ask for Katie. Ask her if you can be a part of the Mini Safari on October 20, even though you you didn't (or did you?) buy your car at the dealership. Be nice if you could join us, since you are in the area. None the less, perhaps I can get a cincy group together on the 19th for a pre-Safari meeting.

That's great! i will pencil in both of the dates and see if I can make it! I am also sponsoring a MINI Rally here in MD on the 26th of this month. It is going to be a timed scavenger hunt rally followed up by a picnic. With any luck we will have a good turn out of MINI's! The last even we had last month enjoyed 40 MINI's!

Yoda, and Other MINI-ers,

I was so looking forward to November at the Rock Hall of Fame, but I have a rehearsal in Mansfield. I guess I'll do my motoring on US30 that day! Have fun! By the way, the parking near the Hall is a garage (bummer), but I hear that there's a lot within walking Ibut not a short walk) distance. Hope to meet up with you all next time.

I will be working on the 9th of November, but would love to see another MINI besides my own- I have had mine since June, drive 100 miles back and forth to work (through Cleveland), and haven't seen another on the road since. I get out at Noon, so if there is a time/location, I'll try to be there.
