Offline | OK folks next Saturday, October 19th is the next San Francisco Bay Area MINI meet & greet. Plan is to meet up at the Presido parade grounds @ 10AM & head up Highway 1 to Olema then by Nicasio Reservoir to the Cheese factory. From there we will head into Nicasio & out Lucas Valley Road to Route 101. I have searched high & low for a GOOD online map of this area but no luck. Will be scanning a good hardcopy & posting it tomorrow. See the following link for a map of the Presido. We will meet up right where it says "Main Post".http://www.nps.gov/prsf/maps/images/padmap.pdf Please respond if you are planning to attend so I can get a count on how many hardcopy maps I should bring. Thanks, David Life is short! Why drive a boring car?! Indi blue/white Cooper;Sport & Premium packages. |

Offline | I guess it depends on how you define "good". Mapquest (http://www.mapquest.com) works for me. Just enter Nicasio, CA. Print out an overall view and then zoom in to get a more detailed view, but it requires several to see the complete route. Family events on the 19th may keep me away. If I'm able to attend, I'll try to bring along several CSAA maps of the area. I suspect that they would be way better than anything from MapQuest. |

Offline | Sejanus, Yep, same spot as last time. How bout them GIANTS!!!! Dr. Bob, I tried Mapquest but there was not enough detail in the maps. Smaller road names were not listed. I have a good bicycling map of the area that I'll scan. Life is short! Why drive a boring car?! Indi blue/white Cooper;Sport & Premium packages. |

Offline | THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! I just got back from PacBell about an hour ago. Best baseball game of my life (given what was on the line)! I'm still flying high off this one. I have to teach a class tomorrow morning and I've screamed my voice to shreds. ![]() |

Offline | OK......the map is too big to attach. Well until I edit the map here are the directions. Proceed out of the Presido to 101 North over the GG bridge and thru the tunnel. Take the Highway 1 Mill Valley/Stinson Beach exit on the right. Up Highway 1 to Olema. Olema is a REALLY small town so slow down when you get there or you'll miss the turn. In Olema take a RIGHT at the flashing red light. This is Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Go up the long hill & back down until you see a large hay barn on the left. Turn LEFT onto Platform Bridge Rd. Take this road to a stop sign. Go straight ahead at the stop sign. The road now becomes Pt. Reyes-Petaluma Rd. Follow Pt. Reyes- Petaluma Rd. past Nicasio Reservoir & the turn for Nicasio Valley Rd. You will go up a long slow rise & back down thru some twisty bits until you see the Cheese facory on the LEFT. It comes up quick; the next building past the Cheese factory is a fire station. If you go too far turn around at the fire station. Life is short! Why drive a boring car?! Indi blue/white Cooper;Sport & Premium packages. |

Offline | I can still hear the faint echo of Russ Hodges, from the 50's, telling the world that: THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! THE GIANTS WIN THE PENNANT! The Giants win the pennant! ... How sweet it is!!! No earthquake this time - Right?? However, family commitments will keep me away from Saturday's gathering. Look for y'all next time. |

Offline | kensmini, The cheese factory sells snacks, sandwiches and of course CHEESE!! There is a pond with picnic tables there for outdoor dining. Rancho Nicasio a bar & grill in Nicasio is also an option. They have GREAT Bar-B-Que oysters & a pretty good menu. Life is short! Why drive a boring car?! Offline | oldad, That depends on how long we hang out at the Cheese factory. I have done a couple "dry runs" & it took me 1-1/2 hours to reach the Cheese factory. It will take another 1/2 hour to 45 minutes from Nicasio to 101. So, say around 2-1/2 hours of driving time. Of course these times will vary depending on traffic & how much you want to tempt fate!
