Offline | Figured on the Northern Route for Sunday Well here is the schedule for tomorrow, hope you can join up. Heading to Grandfather Mountain: Here is the route that we are taking, planning on leaving Asheville around 11:00 am. Start point will be the Home Depot at the intersection of I-240 and Hwy 74 (exit 53B off of I-40) From Asheville take 19/23 north. At the split take 19E towards Burnsville and Spruce Pine, then on to 194 (a Very, Very Twisty road) to 221 north (more twists). Take 221 to Linville Falls area. Pass the Blue Ridge Parkway and at the intersection of 181 and 105 look for a billboard directing you to Grandfather Mountain. (One way driving time: 1 hour 45 minutes.) From there, who knows; on to Boone, NC and the BRP or back down the mountain on hwy 181 into Morganton, where people can join I-40 If someone has a better suggestion, let me know. Hope to see everyone (?) or at least someone there! Pm or Post back if planning on joining up. ![]() |

Offline | Thanks for the invite Smokey but regretably we had to head back to Miami that weekend. How did the run go? I did get to enjoy the fall colors from 5000+ feet before leaving your neck of the woods. Back here in Miami we can't get enough open road to do a run, much less the fun curvy roads you travel everyday. If I were there, I would drive the mountain roads every weekend. Since I can't, would you send me pictures? Super Cooper is having withdrawls from the challenges of NC roads. At least I can show him pictures of his cousins at play. ![]() |

Offline | If you had a picture of the inside of a ping pong ball That's what the weather and our view was like. I think you had the best weather during the week you were in the mountains. Since then our house and most of the good roads have been in the clouds, wet and misty for the last few weeks. We did get out and motor this weekend but the leaves are starting to drop. You are correct about the excellent roads around here, the mini just eats them up. Going to make a left out of the driveway this morning and take 71 curves in the first 8 miles enroute to work. Who knows, I might not stop at work, just keep on motoring. Next time you and Carlos are up this way drop us a line, always looking for someone to join in. ![]() |
