Driving Cross Country on I-10

I figured that this should be off topic, because well, it doesn't really relate to anything. Oh well.

Anyway, My dad and a few of his friends just did a SCCA National race in Sebring Fl, and are going to do one next weekend in West palm beach Fl, and then I am going to be driving one of the race cars (a friend is driving the other) from West palm beach up to I 10 and then all the way to Phoenix Arizona, and then to LA California. I am leaving West palm beach on Sunday the 12th in the late afternoon and we plan on making the trip in about 3 days. The Cars are an Acura RSX and a BMW Z3 which are yellow and blue, respectively. The colors are not factory, it is a bright blue, and porsche yellow. Anyway, to the point of this post...If anyone sees these two cars on I-10 between Sunday and Tuesday making our way from Florida to Arizona, flash your lights at us or honk or something. This will serve several purposes, first, keep us awake, and second to meet (if only driving by) other Mini2 ers. Keep an eye out for us.

Are you sure you've got to use I-10? I found I-40 to be a much more interesting drive (as interstates go).

Last time I did I-10, there was *nothing* on the radio between San Antonio and El Paso but Gospel, Country, and Mexican stations. Pure hell.

Another vote against I-10 is that it's heavily rutted from tractor-trailers. If you think performance tires tramline on city streets, you ought to try it on 1/2" deep ruts that are a little wider than your car's track. Add in a crosswind, and you'll dip from side-to-side, first the left wheel in the rut, then the right wheel in a rut. Pack your dramamine.

Ahhh . . . But this time of year there is often a great deal of snow on I-40 (much of it following the historic Route 66).

Andrew, maybe you can check in from an Internet cafe or other public machine on occasion.

I just got back and yes I agree, I 10 is very boring, but from where we were it was the quickest way. We drove 20 hours a day for 2 days and then a few more hours on the third day to finish it up. I 10 is extremely rough through Louisiana and some of Texas, but I wouldn't know about the radio stations, the cars didn't have radios, or windows, or all wheather tires, or cruise control, or any other interior ammenities. Just so you all know, Don't try to drive cross country with Recarro racing seats, feeling still hasn't returned to my bottom.
