At the end of the day we decided the kids at 3 and 5 were too young to really appreciate what America would offer, and unlikely to remember it as such - we're going to take them to see Santa at Lapland in Nov/Dec instead

A long flight with them would not be much fun for Jackie and I and the idea was to have a special holiday for "us", not the kids as such. So we've gone for an nice expensive hotel in a resort we know and love, Cala Galdana. We've got some friends coming too who will be staying nearby and they are going to have the kids for some of the time so we can go off and do things as a couple for a change.

We will visit the US and Florida but probably in 3 or 4 years time. Thanks for all your input folks, it is very much appreciated and is not wasted at all as we have learnt a lot for when we do visit

Menorca? That sounds wonderful.

And, you're right. The kids wouldn't appreciate the USA at that age. Why not come over for a week with Denise on your own another time this year? You know there are lots of peeps waiting to greet you.

Recently stayed in the Moser in San Francisco. Tiny rooms, great rate, very nicely re-done, and right down town (good neighborhood). For 2 people still in love (only a double bed) it is a very nice hotel - but as I said, the room was smaller than my 2-star room in Paris last year - kind of appropriate for a MINI croud.
