(this wasn't my idea, but hey, someone out there might like ramps)
Robbinsville Ramp Festival - This festival, held in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is one of the oldest and most authentic ramp festivals in Appalachia. Admission is $5. For more information, call 828-479-1182 or 828-479-3512.
I was talking with the front desk at the Microtel today and chatting about all that might be going on while the MINIs are in town. The very nice woman stated that the Ramp festival was happening the weekend of May1/2. I said "What?" and she replied (laughing) "I bet you don't know what a ramp is do you?" A ramp is a wild onion - Leek like. The fire department hosts the event and proceeds benefit the local fire house. Fish fry sounds good!
Picked up 12 July 2002. 69,000 rev happy miles Autocrossing in G Stock this year!!!
Shoot! I've always wanted to try a ramp, but can't come down that weekend. From what I understand though, if you have one on the 25th, I'll still be able to smell it on your breath by the 29th!

I see why VAMini said she wouldn't be there that weekend. The link above takes you to a page that says the ramp festival is on the 25th! Darn! I can't believe I'm going to miss it!
Otherwise I'd be there for sure... but I think there's gonna be one close to me in May, so maybe I'll have to hit it and see what all the fuss is about!
