Okay I've decided just to stay at Embassy Suites. There will still be a couple of us (MINIs). I'm sure there will be a bunch of other European cars staying there also, so our MINI's won't be lonely.

I really want October to come faster, so we can do this!! But I'm anticipating delivery day first Mid-August COME ON

Looks like our cars are on the same ship?

No more dithering!

Hubby and I are going to keep our reservations at the ES because so many of the activities begin and end at this hotel.

Sorry to not switch, but we are really looking forward to meeting all of you there.

Markie and MiniCooperGirl, I don't expect to see any posts from either of you for about two weeks after you get your cars! Go out and drive!

Your right Markie, we are on the same ship, good 'ole Fidelio. Arrives in Charleston on Aug 8th.
I assume I will take delivery around Aug 17.
I will still have time to come on here everyday, during work (uh, did I say that?)

We just booked our hotel to attend the Euro Auto Festival. Thanks to MiniNC we got a $65 room rate at Wingate 6 miles from Embassy Suites. See post above Link to Inn

Can't wait for Spindoc's fun mountain run.
Here in Florida we have none.
(Like how my MINI inspires me to poetry? sorta)

I've got a idea for Friday Night! Take a look at Roper Mountain Planetarium.
Starry Nights 7:30 - 10:30
7:30 - Carolina Skies (Live sky presentation)
8:30 - Lunar Odyssey (Multimedia presentation)
9:30 - Digistar Delights (Digital Special Effects Presentation)
Fees: $3.00 Adults

Just received my registration confirmation. Hubby and I are in the 9:45 tour on Friday, as requested.

I'm surprised they were working on Sunday in SC!

Is your offical estimated delivery 8/18? Mine is 8/17, I would have thought Florida would be equal distance from Charleston as NC?

The way the truck is going that day has more to do with delivery time than the distance from the VPC.

My car took almost five days to get here, but that was because a truck left for Norfolk the day before mine was released. So, I had to sit and wait for the next one.

Thumbs up Mountains!

Hi All,

I live in Charlotte, NC. Picked my Cooper S 3 days ago and have been drooling at a chance to take it over to the mountains. I was considering organising a Mini get-together in the Smokeys - There is a Road called Deals Gap that is right up the Mini's alley - 318 tuns in 11 miles! Check out http://www.tailofthedragon.com. It does get crowded with a lot of dangerous sportbike squids though. So maybe some of the twistier roads that I am familiar with near Asheville/Pisgah Ntl forest would be fun...

Anyone interested?

Regars,

Jason

Depending on the timing, hubby and I would be interested. We had planned on taking a weekend to admire the fall colors and drive in the mountains.

You might get more response if you started a thread with this idea...

Jason, see my earlier posts in this thread for mountain runs some of us are doing on the Friday of the Euro car show. These are closer to Greenville than the Dragon, and allow us to lunch at the Pisgah Inn.

By the way, back in early May I ran my S thru Deal's Gap, and it was a real blast (and none of the Audi TT's there for the event could keep up).

Spindoc!

I wondered where you had gone.

I'm signed up for both the morning BMW plant tour and the evening reception. Will there be time in between for a drive?

I hope I can still get in on the action (tours, autocross, etc.) I'll be calling the Eurofest folks tomorrow.

Whoever is keeping count - Add 2

We've had 2 or 3 organized S2000 drives on the Dragon (Deal's Gap). It's an amazing road  , 11 miles and 318 turns of pure sports car bliss , although on the last one (I was not present) we had a guy push too hard and he crashed into an embankment . The TN side of the Dragon was just re-paved in the last month or two so the pavement should be better than ever! It was good pavement even before the re-paving
