Offline | Euro auto festival at BMW plant in SC Mini is the featured marque at the Euro 2002 Auto Festival to be held Oct. 18-20 at the BMW Zentrum (museum) and manufacturing plant near Greenville, SC. I've been to this event a couple of times and it's a good one: lots of great European cars (including yours!), an autocross using cars supplied by BMW (this year it's Minis), a fun rally, "Canadian driving event", plant tours, great museum, etc. How about a US Mini2 gathering at this event? I'd be willing to organize a mountain driving expedition to nearby runs (Caesar's Head, Pisgah Ridge, Candler's Mtn) on the Friday of the event (during which time there's not really much else going on). Contact me if you're interested. Here's a link for info on the event: www.euroautofestival.com |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | It's a short drive from VA My silk green MINI and I could attend this event. Keep posting info, sounds like fun. The only thing that could keep me away is some ex-inlaws living there. ![]() SC = South Carolina VA = Virginia Norfolk VA to Greenville SC is approximately an 8 hour drive. | MINI2 Newbie | contactin the euro auto festival people have you guys thought of contacting the people at the euroauto festival about this? i'm pretty sure they'd be willing to advertize and maybe even sponsor. oh, and if there are enough of us in the area, we could even do a practise run before then. changing the subject a bit, i've heard rumors about a minimeet in Charleston,SC... what's up with that? thanks, Rey. |

Offline | Re: sounds like fun Remember, in Clemson--that might be a football Saturday! Seriously, come on down to South Carolina. Y'all won't regret it. October is a great time to be here and nearby mountains will be in autumn color. The BMW plant is most impressive too [although tours recently halted due to secrecy of new mdel replacing Z-3] |

| Loves MINI2 | Just wanted to move this back to the top, because I still want to go and will have a friend from Miami that will drive his new "S" up with me. So there will be two of us from South Florida driving up for the event. It is a couple months away, but maybe we can come up with a list of people that are going to attend and then talk about scheduling some runs around town before/after the event. I think if I am coming from South Florida those in Georgia and Tennessee can make it also!?!?!?!?!? Let's do this! What do you think SPINDOC? |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | Would you be coming in on I 40? Gary, we could probably meet up with you at the I 40/I 85 interchange in NC, unless you wanted to drive north. Around mid September, I'll post a MapQuest route with times, and have a few designated rest stops for everyone to meet up. I am assuming there will be a lot more MINI owners by then, too! ~~Somewhere, over the ... ![]() Global Moderator |

Offline | Euro 2002 Friday agenda Hi guys-- Please take a second to look back at my original post starting this thread. It would probably be best to meet Friday morning in Greenville SC, say at the Embassy Suites, the host hotel for Euro 2002 (although if it's easier for more folks to gather in Asheville, NC Friday morning, we could start from there). From there I can lead the group on some great mountain driving runs, starting with Caesar's Head (where some say BMW got the idea for their "Happiness IS the corner" ad campaign a few years ago), then on to the flowing switchbacks of Pisgah Ridge, before stopping for lunch at the scenic Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Then, after revving our engines a bit for the wonderful acoustics through some tunnels on the Parkway, we can climb back up Candler's Mountain Road for a few more twisties. This will get us back to Greenville later that afternoon, with plenty of time before the Euro 2002 Reception at 7pm. How does this sound? |

| Loves the Fuzzy One | I can be there! I was planning on driving Friday, but if I change that to driving on Thursday, I can be there for the run on Friday. I know there are some twisty, interesting roads in the Greenville area. I will post Mapquest directions and driving times around mid September. ![]() Global Moderator |

| Loves MINI2 | update! Just wanted to send another update. Myself and a couple others down here in South Florida will be driving all day on Thursday to get up there. Friday morning we will be taking a tour of the plant and will have the rest of the day free. We will have time to do some runs through the mountains. Saturday will be the car show and then the banquet at night. On Sunday we plan on doing the rally from 9-12. After the rally we are going to drive up to The Dragon (about 225 Miles NW of Spartansburg). We will be staying in a hotel somewhere around there and drive back to South Florida Monday morning. When the event gets closer we can get more information from each other. From this post there will be about 9 MINI's there. 1.Spindoc 2.AprilWhine 3.GaryTate 4.princecaspain 5.Cooperville 6.S2K&CooperS 7.shark 8.my friend Juan 9.myself This should be a great meeting. ![]() FYI - www.euroautofestival.com Last edited by minicoopersgirl : Jul 10th, 2002 at 01:36 PM. |
