United-Kingdom New MINI

Alright guys

Just brought myself an 02 One kitted out to Cooper S spec. Pictures to follow! Only had it a few days and already in love with MINI's.

But I'm confused with a few things...

One being my temp gauge is reading -40.0 Deg. - so I'm guessing the whole sensor is missing as its reading its lowest value?

2. My fuel ran out at just before 1/4 tank as it read on the gauge - has this been a regular problem for an 02 One? Or is it (another) sensor fault?

3. Best place to go for a replacement key? BMW MINI want £200 for a spare :|

4. How much and how easy is it to convert to a cooper S fuel cap - I want it to look like a tuned Cooper S

and also any of you guys have had a HID kit fitted and know the best ones to get?

Cheers

Hi and welcome to Mini2

1. The outside temp sensor is clipped to the inside of front bumper and may need replacement.

2. Not heard of incorrect fuel tank reading as a common MINI fault before.

3. You can also order a non-remote emergency spare key from BMW MINI (about £30 a couple of years ago). The full remote key has to also be programmed to your car which adds at least 0.5 hour labour charge in Dealer price.

4. See this link for details and pictures of fitting the MCS fuel cap:

Minispares were selling them @ £50 special offer recently but expect to pay quite a bit more from a MINI dealer, etc. They sometimes also come up on ebay new and used. The inner part needs to be sprayed to match your car but easily done with the correct colour aerosol paint form a local MINI Dealer.
