| New Cooper S (R53) owners near Leeds Hello all, newbie here. Proud new owner since Wednesday.
Up till last Sat I was driving a monster of a BMW Z4 sDrive35i, but due to a change in circumstances I'm afraid it had to go. So having sold that, paid off the finance I was left with not a great deal at all to buy something else.
I needed something small, fun, witha good community, and something that wasn't going to cost me £500 a month in finance costs (that's what the Z4 cost me... ouch).
Having had convertibles since 1999 I nearly stuck with another convertible and went back to my old favourite the MX-5 (I've had 3, a 1.6 1990, a 1.8 1996 and a 2.0 2005, prior to the Z4). However, I've always quite fancied a Mini and now seemed a good time to buy. Prices have come down somewhat, as the older Cooper S' are a fair bit to run tax, and fuel wise, so the market has I think slowed for them..
So the hunt began, and while I had my eye on a car being sold by a guy locally on another forum, I couldn't help but thinking I had to have a car with the Panoramic roof. This was as near as I could get to still being a convertible (without actually getting a Mini convertible).
So anyway, after much searching I spotted my new car, a 2004 (54) facelift R53 Cooper S, in metallic grey (what's that colour known as please?) with gloss black roof and mirrors, built in sat nav, panoramic roof, and half leather.
I got the train down to London from Leeds on Wednesday and took it out for a spin, did the deal and drove back to Leeds, grinning at the whine from the SC!
So hopefully the pics have attached (the site won't let me link to my own versions as I've not enough posts). There's a couple taken from the original autotrader ad, and one cheesy one of me that I took on the day I collected!
Cheers!
