Angry Mini Copper 2003 owner needing advice over my central locking system

Hi there,

I am very new to this so apologies if I have done this wrong!

I am an owner of a 2003 Mini Cooper. Since January 2012 I have been experiencing issues over my central locking. My sensor key does not work automatically but does when used manually.

I reported this issue to my local BMW Mini dealership and I have since been on the end of nothing but hassle, inconvience and trouble from them. Basically they do not wish to know about it as to cut a long story short I purchased a brand new electronic key from them in 2007. As they are obliged to rectify the issue they seem to continually be putting obstacles in my way over its repairing. After a whole month of going forwards and immediately 2 steps backwards with me they are now saying that my whole central locking system does not work and that it will need to be completely replaced??

Now it is only the sensory element that do not work as previously mentioned. The dealership would also not supply me with a quote on how much this could be - instead said it would have to have a series of diagnostic tests carried out on it BEFORE (Yes I know!) Before they could highlight the actual problem and the tests would bound to take 2 hours at the very least...

They were also very quick to point out they had noticed a few other issues that needed attention (ie: tyres and brake pads etc) of which I am fully aware and it is actually booked in elsewhere due to their pure lack of customer service.

But my point is - has anyone else had problems with their central locking regarding their key sensor? On getting a second opinion elsewhere my central locking is fine and holds no issues. It is appears to wholly be the key.

Help! I am at my wits end. I am taking my case further with the dealership but could really do with some advice if anyone else has suffered such problems?

Thank you

Not sure if anything here that will help much but worth a look:
