1st day with my new MINI

Hi All,

I am Dan and I am a MINI-Holic.
I traded in my 2011 Honda Civic SI with 7,000 miles on it for a 2007 Mini Cooper S with 33,000 miles.
My wife and friends think I am nuts, and maybe I am .
So far I love the car, very different experience, but this car has soul!

One question I have is should I get a spare tire for it? Seems the car came originally with run-flats but now has regular tires. I have not had a flat in over 20 years so maybe I will be OK?

Well here is my new baby.

Welcome to the forum, that's a handsome Cooper S! You need to let your missus and friends drive it... they'll soon come around.

I'd be wary on regular tyres with no spare! If you haven't had a flat in two decades, you're probably long overdue one! You can get a retrofit spare which is explained in detail here, or you could just grab a can of 'Tyre Weld' or similar in case the worst happens.

No place to put a spare tire on a Cooper S ... you'll have to carry tire sealant or plugs and a compressor.

You can always get some tyre weld and keep a compressor in the boot too. From what I understand, the retrofit only works on the non S models.

There are options where you can get a spacesaver that comes in a bag, but this will have to sit in the boot or on your backseat.
