Hi, I received my brand new Mini a week and a half ago and, after browsing this forum a lot during the selection process I decided to write a post to let the world know about my new machine and also to thank everyone on the forum whose discussions helped to influence my selection.
The car I chose was a Cooper SD with the Chili, Media and Sport Packs. Exterior is exclipse grey with black roof, wing mirrors and bonnet stripes, obviously it has also got the
JCW body kit, spoiler and the 17" Cross Spoke Challenge Light Alloy Wheels as part of the sport pack. Internally it is part leather in rooster red with the red dash and also the chrome line interior, again obviously it has got all the extra gear you would expect with the chili and media packs.
I've done 575miles so far (according to Mini Connected on my iPhone) and I'm absolutely loving it.
Highlights:
The engine - the mid range torque is excellent and so far I'm averaging about 48mpg which I'm happy with considering how it's been driven.
The handling and ride - stiff but not too firm normally but handles superbly when you push it.
The sat nav - although the instructions aren't quite as clear as in my old prius (maybe I'll get more used to it).
The media system connecting to my iPhone - setting it to play Layer Cake full screen when a mate got in last night was particularly entertaining.
The overall fit and finish of the interior - very, very impressed with the quality of it all.
Downsides:
In Mini Connected the scrolling up and down with the little joystick is the opposite to the other menus - why would they do this?!
Not being able to use google-send-to-car from maps on my iphone - seems like they are missing a trick here.
Overall I couldn't be happier with it!
