Hi Everyone, My name is Gypsy and I have just become the proud owner of my first Mini Copper.
It is a 1.6cc 51 plate and drives like a dream.
I just took it down to the local garage for them to have a look at it and I have been advised to get the brake pipes renewed and also there is a slight leak from the gear box.
I need to find out what the Gear box oil grade is and also what the capacity should be. When I look on line there is about 5 different ones to choose from. Very confusing for a blonde!!!
I phoned bmw mini in Edinburgh and they said there would be written on the bottom of the gearbox however I can see nothing at all.
Thank you for that I phoned the dealer this morning and ordered 2 ltrs and the seal. Not as much as I thought it would be.
I have another wee problem you may be able to help me with, well two really.
The first is the noise of the power steering. It sounds like it is powering down the only way I can describe it is a whining. The man at the garage said this is a normal noise and I only have to worry if it gets loud!!!
The second problem is the air bag warning light stays on all the time. Is there a way I can by pass this?
Kind Regards
Gypsy
Well thats a typical quote from someone that either doesnt know or cant be bothered to find out, and especially surprising from a MINI dealership too.
To expect a female to lie on the floor with skirt and high heels on trying the find the gearbox let alone removing the dirt to check for a label
Your car is a 1600cc or 1.6 litre by the way.
I just like to say thanks and your post made me laugh. I was under the car looking, I 'you tubed' the car and problem and it showed me where the gear box was but the only sticker on it was well worn and I could not read it. I did however remove the high heels and pencil skirt before starting my quest lol
Kind Regards
