newbie saying hello, and asking some advice

First off Hello All, Just bought my first mini an 2003 ( R53 ?) cooper s with the JCW tuning kit 200 bhp i believe as standard airbox and smaller injectors ?, i have been doing some research so as not to look like a spanner here, So what i would like to ask is the following, i find her a bit slow to take off from standstill, i plan to do a few upgardes slowly and budget allowing as i have bikes too and they take a fair chunk of my dissposable income, so heres what i plan to do any opinins advice would be greatly recieved and appreciated :

1, put a set of iridium plugs in
2 replace the airbox JCW or aftermarket i cant decide on the best way to go akltough k&n induction kits are looking about £170 against the JCW @ £300 +, what are peoples experiences and the best way to go ? ive seen threads etc about DAve F cold air intakes - any good ?

3 a custom map to increase power out but not to far as this is a daily drive

am i going in the right direction or have i got this all wrong ? should i do the injectors too ? never done this so a bit concerned that i will get it very wrong ,

the car is an 03 with 61 k on th clock paid just over 5 k for it based hampshire england, any local boys out there with any advice with who to go see etc would also be appreciated

thanks all and happy Friday

Why iridium plugs?

If you're not going with the JCW airbox, go with the Dave F.

No point in getting a custom remap unless you're planning on putting in larger fuel injectors.

hey, plugs for a stronger spark and extended service life, use them on all my bikes and make a big difference, on pick up from low revs which is where i feel this car is lacking once you get her wound up she flys along but hey were talking cars now so if i get feedback differently then i will be happy to listen, also im stuck between a straight replacment panel filter or CAI is the £100 difference really worth it, also with the injectors ive never tackled this before, so scaring me off a bit, Big Job ?

you will know they are the standard injectors if they are tan in color(jcw's are blue). your generally headed in the right direction but are still getting a little hung up where most people do trying to replace things that wont really make a big difference. if you are strictly looking for extra power in the bottom end my suggestions in order are to switch the jcw supercharger pulley for a 17% reduction pulley, get a good exhaust header manifold, a new street/torque style cam shaft, either 450cc or jcw injectors and then when you have finished everything get a good tune by someone with a reputation. these are all the best bang for buck modifications to do that will net you some good hp down low without breaking the bank. there are tons of other little things you could do but anything else is arguably a waste of money and wont really gain you that much for the cost. you could throw on an air box if you really want to, most people do, it makes the supercharger sound cool but isnt that much better then the stock box to really be worth it in my opinion.
before i forget welcome and congrats on the new mini! a fine choice you have picked out with the year and model. good luck on your quest for more skirrrrr!
