Bought my first car yesterday

Hi

I bought my first car yesterday (I passed my test on Thursday).

Its a 2010 Mini One 1.6 (chilli red), with 10,400 miles.

I collect it on Tuesday and have mixed feelings. I have wanted to own a mini for soo long that I can't really believe that I now own a car. I think I learnt to drive so that I could have a mini.

However as I have just passed my test, I am yet to drive on my own also I have never driven with the other half in the car. Worried that even though I have passed my test that I am not a good enough driver to be on the road on my own.

Alex

Congrats ! What a cool first car.

The fact your apprehensive about driving is good, take your time, and now the learning really starts. Nothing like the freedom of having your own wheels.

Thank you.

I am really looking forward to being able to get places. Spent years not being able to get to things or having to beg for lifts. Wasn't so bad when I lived in London, not so good in the sticks.

Some new drivers put the green 'P' plates on their car for the first few weeks after passing their test, so most drivers are more forgiving if you make a mistake......but you will of course still get some more experienced or impatient drivers who show off to prove how much better they are at driving.

They are available in Halfords:
Halfords | Halfords Multifix P Plates

Customer Quote:
"I bought these P plates for a friend with little driving experience and thus not much confidence. The plates were easy to attach to the car using the adhesive strips, and more importantly they have the desired effect that other drivers are more patient and considerate, making driving much less stressful for my friend. Definitely a useful accessory for anxious new drivers."

Alex, your post brings back many memories. I got my first car 62 years ago and I can assure you it wasn't nearly as nice as what you just bought. (I did finally get a MINI, just 2 years ago.) Better late than never, as they say.

Actually, what impressed me about your post was your concern about your driving abilities. So many young people start out with the idea that they know it all, and the result it often disastrous. With your attitude, I suspect that you will be a safe and conscientious driver and earn the respect of others on the road. Best of luck to you.

hi well done and hope you have many safe driving years ahead of you. if i were you my freind i would get th ekey take a deep breath and drive dont think about it or youll never open the door just get in forget about being on your own and imagine you hae being doing it all your life. There have been a few people i have taught to drive and after the test pass i got them on there own to get in the car and drive its the best thing you can do just drive where ever your nose takes you Dont panic and well done for choosing the right car as well.
