United-States "New" 2004 Mini Cooper S

Hey guys,
I am looking at picking up a 2004 Mini Cooper S on Friday. It has a manual tranny, 65k miles on it, black leather seats, black exterior (great condition) white rims and mirror caps, and a checkered roof. Everything stock...no mods.

The price is really good and fits my budget perfectly. I am upgrading from a 1991 Suzuki Sidekick rust bucket with bald tires, no AC, stuck drivers window, faded paint, hubs that lock when they want too, and other joys from a 91...I know what you're thinking..."Why would you ever upgrade from that chick magnet?" well the answer is simple, It no longer runs .

What should I look for in a 2004 MCS with 65k miles on it? Also does it only take top end fuel? Premium. Would a non "S" be a better version?

Thanks caveman. There was a 2009 I was looking at as well, but they want almost 9k more for it...I can't afford those payments. That link says the 2004 was very good though.

When buying a 1st Gen Cooper S hardtop, model year (2002 - 2006) purchased isn't that critical ... although a 2005 or 2006 model will have 7 more horsepower and gear ratios providing slightly better acceleration.

I am not too worried about the 7 HP...I want it to last a while before having any issues from driving too hard, so I may be doing some granny driving for the first couple months :P
