60 plate cooper d average 40mpg?

Hello all,

Just bought my first mini and decided to go for a 2010 60 plate 112 bhp cooper d,but after 1 week of ownership with a 200 mile round trip included in a run ive only managed 360 miles for a 40 litre full tank which works out to be 40mpg!!
As my model is supposed to be 74 mpg combined im pretty shocked by the difference.
I have had a little fun and put my foot down a few times but nothing major and not a lot ,even considering that i should surely be getting 55mpg.
Any thoughts would be very welcome as im thinking of taking it down the mini garage to see if theres a problem,it had also just been serviced from the garage i bought it from although a RENAULT/NISSAN dealership, would this affect my mini warranty ?

Many thanks

No problems thats just how it is, its extremely hard to achieve the manufacturers top figures and just hard to get their medium ones too.
Theres plenty written on the forum on this very subject if you do search.
40mpg, thats jolly good.

After about 10k miles in my 60 plate Dooper convertible,I think I get average 50mpg, a bit dissapointing given the manufacturers figures but as per the above post you never get anywhere near those.

I usually drive to have fun so expect a lower mpg. The current tank is running at 50mpg but the average mpg that I have just got on a run down to my partners is 55mpg, A roads, not really going above 60 mph.

I did find that using an additive for a while increased the mpg, I'll have to go back to that.

Ive changed my driving style a little trying to keep it under 2000 revs when in gear, looking at 420 miles ish for a full tank which is a bit better about 47 mpg.
Really love driving my dooper, very fun car to drive
