Picking Up My New Mini Tomorrow

Picking up a my new 2013 Mini tomorrow! Orange Metallic with black roof and bonnet stripes and a sunroof. Really excited as I've lusted after a Mini Cooper for as long as I can remember. I was finally now in a position to purchase a car for the first time (prior to that I had been given a used civic at 17 and borrowed a mini-van and a Honda CRV from my parents during law school) I knew exactly where I was going. For some reason I test drove other compact cars, since gas mileage was extremely important based on my 60-mile-each-way commute, but I knew all along what I was buying.

My only regret is that I could not buy a manual. As I said I commute 60-miles each way, so you can imagine the traffic I sit in during rush hours, so a manual just wasn't in the cards this go round.

So excited to pick up my new baby tomorrow. Let me know if you have any advice for a new Mini owner! Only pic below, more to follow.

Wow that is a very orange mini. If your mew mini is brand new my advice is to take it easy as per the operating manual, I think it says reduced revs for the first 1,500 miles. I say this as I have two brand new minis and took it easy in both of them as per the manual. This I believe has reduced the amount of oil required to top up. Both cars are cooper S's one a manual cooper s convertible and the other a countryman All4 auto. Only one lire of oil used in 2k miles and 5.5k miles respectively.

Only other advice is to enjoy they are really fun to drive and own whilst in warranty.

Just curious, I know the recommended oil change is 10k for the first change, then every 15k after that, is it necessary to top off during the interim periods? If so, I guess you're saying a liter every 2.5k or so?

When you first start your car look at the digital speedometer/odometer, it will momentarily flash how many miles it is until your next oil service. If you miss the notification, shut the car off, start it again and watch.
What MrLoz was saying is drive it easily, low RPMs, during the first couple of thousand miles (under 70MPH) and it won't become an oil burner. You should check your fluids every few thousand miles and top off between oil changes using the recommended grade long distance oil
