United-States Hello, Fellow MINI Fans

My hubby and I bought ourselves a used MINI Cooper for Christmas. We've been longtime fans (we've been watching them for 15-plus years) and finally took a plunge at buying a used 2008 plain Cooper in BRG.

Similar to others on this forum, the gas for my 50-some mile daily commute was getting outrageous (driving a van getting 18 MPG is EXPENSIVE). I love driving it and I enjoy the control you get with manual transmission in our snowy part of the world (upstate NY). Hoping that it will hold its value as well as save us LOTS in gas $.

Attaching a photo of our Mini. We nicknamed him Chip because he looks like a chipmunk with the tail (antenna) sticking up while he "runs" and he's so tiny

Can't understand why you only get 18mpg. I had a 2008 copper s and I got about 33 mpg. I have a 2011 JCW now and I am getting 34mpg from that at the moment.

No - my Dodge Caravan gets 18 MPG! That's why I needed something with lower MPG. The MINI gets around 40 MPG according to the consumption meter or more like 33 if I calculate the old fashioned way, dividing gas purchased from miles traveled on the odometer. Sorry if I mis-communicated that!

plus if your from across the pond your gallons are 4.0 litres whilst ours are 4.5 litres, so that always means your mpg figures are lower.

Woosey, that makes sense why the consumption meter is a little off of my manual calculations. Thanks!
