Rev counter not working

Hi I own a 2002 cooper s after purchase I have noticed that the rev counter and display are failing intermittently, I ave seen a few posts but no solutions any help would be greatly appreciated. Also how do you remove the roof clock as I have a dent in the roof that may push out? Thanks
