Scotland R56 Cooper S fault codes/ no boost

I am posting this thread on behalf of my son who had a low speed impact with a tree stump in the snow, the resulting damage was to the front bumper, inner bumper and a burst intercooler. The damage has now been repaired but there have been several engine management fault codes. these have now been resolved except for the boost pressure sensor which still comes up as a fault code. The sensor has been replaced with a new one and |I have checked the wiring for continuity between the connector and the ECU but the fault will not clear.
I removed the sensor and started the engine to see if there was any boost..even with reving the engine there is no boost, I removed the outlet from the turbo and blew my air gun into the pipe and was getting pressure coming out of the sensor hole. I then started the engine and looked into the inlet side of the turbo to see the impeller freewheeling I then stuck the handle of a screwdriver against the impeller shaft and it stalled easily... I then got my wife to rev the engine and the impeller stalled with next to no pressure.
So my question is.... is the waste gate jammed open or is it being held open by the ECU due to there being a fauld code? Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Further to my thread yesterday, I have done the following.... I removed the vacuum hose from the turbo and found there was no vacuum at all therefor the actuator was keeping the wastegate open. I was able to blow through the hose from the vacuum pump to the pressure converter valve and back to the actuator end. I then removed pcv or eppc valve as it seems to be called and found that there is a suction filter inside the body of the valve.... it looks to me that at idle the solenoid keeps the valve open allowing air in to prevent the vacuum occuring. Im assuming that as the revs rise the solenoid would close of this port allowing the vacuum to close the wastegate. Is there antway to bench test electronicaly to see if this happens or any ideas or suggestions?

Just back from 2 weeks working away, Ive now run a seperate 12 supply from the battery to the pressure converter valve and it is working as it should ( the solenoid closes allowing the vacuum to close the wastgate) so my dilema now is...is the boost sensor error code (that will not clear even after fitting a new one) not allowing the ECU to send the 12 volts or is the ECU damaged???? any ideas anyone?

Normally if you cant clear the fault code the fault its saying is still present, maybe the new sensor is faulty?
