Hi guys, quite a new owner needing some help if poss?
Hi guys, we've had our lovely little mini one 7 edition since September. It's the wife's car really, I'm a van driver, but I am very fond of it! It's a 2006 56 plate, it's very clean and well maintained.
Last night someone drove into the back of it, whilst parked at my Mrs's work car park. She smashed it up a kerb, across the pavement and into a building!
The damage doesn't look too bad, visually you can see it needs a new bumper (rear), new crumple bar thingy (behind the bumper) front bumper, new osf tyre (as burst on impact) and both front alloys re painting (where it's smashed up the kerb). Then, what you can't see is the damage underneath, the suspension is noisy and the steering makes noise as you turn it.
Now this is where my query lies, as I was emptying it, I found a crack on the body work where the door opens. It's where the lock catch is, so if you ran your hand along the sill and up toward the pillar, it was in a corner (I'll post a pic).
Now when the guy from the bodyshop came to take it on his flatbed, he recons it's not the impact that's caused the crack but someone slamming the seat belt in the door?
Have any of you heard of this before? I've done this many a time in old cars and the kids do it in my transit as the belts a bit lose and baggy sometimes and all it does is make a nasty noise?
Please help, I'm worried they'll try and say it's our fault when I know it want there before, as I've polished there and would have notice it!
Sorry for the essay, let me know if I need to move the question to a different thread.
Thanks in advance, Matt
