Got me a Mini from hell as my first

Hey guys new to the forums. About 3 weeks ago I bought myself a cherry 2003 Mini Cooper S Dinan tuned. All I can say about the car is WOW! The car is sexy looking and crazy fast. I will post more pics of it tommorow.

Well I am having a few problems with it. The passenger side headlight has an alternating flutter to it. Occasionally at a stoplight while idling the engine will start running rough and almost stall before speeding back up again. Today while driving over a speed bump I lost power steering. Drove it all the way home without. Got home turned car off and turned it back on. Power steering back. Is this normal for these cars to have this many gremlins. My other car is a 2001 Mercedes CLK55 AMG. I have owned it for 7 years and have not had a single issue out of it.

Power steering pump failures are a common issue. MINI USA recently extended the warranty on power steering pumps for cars built prior to February 10, 2005 to 13 years or 150,000 miles.

So do I need to just take it to the dealer and they will replace it or do I need to call miniUSA first?

I imagine a dealer would first have to verify that it's failing, but I'd call MINI USA and ask them what needs to be done.

Well I called Dealership here and my mini is going in for replacement of power steering pump and all associated hardware. I guess I don't have to pay a cent. Thanks Caveman. You saved me alot of money. I was actually on ebay shopping for a new pump before u posted.
