I have been lurking around for a while and considering purchasing a Cooper S as my daily transport, someone in the last 24hrs suggested i should give consideration to an Audi TT 225 which i hadn't looked at. Been doing a little bit of browsing and the 2002-2005 examples (which appear to be the preferred car with less niggles) are similar money to some of the Cooper S' i am looking at.
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has experienced/owned an Mk1 TT 225 and moved to a Cooper S, the running comparison/practicalities etc.
I have done little more than some Googling, Parkers review and You Tube reviews so some real life feedback would be good.
It would be my daily transport, and the commute is, it has to be said, pretty good. I leave Weston S Mare through the back lanes towards Cross, shoot over the A38 towards Cheddar and then wind my way through numerous villages on the A371 finishing up in Wells. No motorway, no towns, no stop start driving, I should add my shifts also mean no traffic either so it really is quite a lovely drive which takes in and around 30-40 mins. Sometimes traveling at 3am in the morning which is great!
Before anyone says - i realise i am on a Mini forum so the reply is likely to be biased towards the Mini however i would like to get a feel for how they compare as on the face of it power/price/running costs would appear to be on the mark??
Caveman - it will be a facelift first Gen Cooper S hopefully.
k3fus - thanks for the comments, i realise its subjective depending on what forum you ask the question on but often people just change cars for the sake of it and other reasons so may have fair opinions of them both.
