Convertible - window operation

Please can someone confirm how the windows are meant to operate when you open and close the roof, inc what buttons you press and when?

Also how to reprogram their operation.

Thanks.

I have a 2010 model. On mine I hold the switch and the sun roof rolls back an stops. Hold the switch again and all four windows drop to I guess just under half way, the roof folds and locks and the windows return to their closed position.

What is happening with yours?

Don't know about re setting them though. Hope it helps.

The fronts are fine, but the rears don't return to the closed position when you are putting the roof down or up.

Can you raise the windows with the switch in the console under the radio that does all four windows?

I think the way that you reset the front owners is to roll them all the way down and hold the switch for something like five seconds then roll them up and hold the switch again, you might try that with the switch that does all four.

Cheers, our car doesn't have the 4 window switch in the console, but it has the window switches by the rear view mirror. I have tried to hold that down and up as mentioned but no joy, though it has worked every so often, but then fails again. I wonder if it has to be done with the roof up?

I think the roof would have to be up, the windows have to be down about half way while the roof goes back in place, then when it is locked the windows should go up.

Perhaps you need a trip to a garage :-(

Garage
On my 2005, holding the window open button near the rear view mirror will open the rear windows all the way first then will also open the front windows. I use this if I want to drop just the rear windows and let go of the button when they are down and then press the window up when I want to put them up.

We'll I though I'd got them working from just the roof button, but went out to try it later and they had forgotten what to do again....grrrr this is stupid. Why do the rears work fine with the window switch, but not with the roof?

I'm going to call mini and ask them, I bet they ask me to bring it in "so they can have a look", I don't want them to have a look, I want them to fix it.

Finally sorted it, a specialist suggested, over the phone, checking the BCM for water ingress but that was not the issue. The windows needed to be reprogrammed, much like those in the doors if they no longer drop when the door is opened.

The windows should return to a closed position after you have lowered or raised the roof with no need to press either of the two window buttons up near the roof ones.

To do this it is easy, but you need to program them at the right time within the roof opening or closing sequence.

Opening:
If a window does not return to it's closed position using the roof open button close it/them using the close window button at the top of the screen. Let go of the button when they are closed then press and hold it again, you will hear a series of clunks (like relays) by all the windows, when you do you can let go of the button (it takes no more than 2 seconds).

Closing:
If a window does not return to the closed position using the roof closed button close it/them using the close window button at the top of the screen. Let go of the button when they are closed then press and hold it again, you will hear a series of clunks (like relays) by all the windows, when you do you can let go of the button (it takes no more than 2 seconds).

Now test the roof opening and closing again, all windows should now open and return to their closed position using only the roof open and close buttons.

If the above does not work try it again, it took me a while to get it right.
