Apple Cooper brianfire

As a newbie I just wanted to introduce myself I haven't bought a Mini yet but am looking to purchase a reasonable secondhand Cooper soon to enjoy in my retirement here in Cyprus, my very first car in 1970 was a 1963 Mini 950 cc and I went on to buy, build and Rally Cross many Mini Coopers in the UK during my early motoring years and as a then budding car mechanic. I was also a former member of the Thames Estuary Motor Club (TEAC) and held a full competition licence and finally ended up racing Formula Ford Single Seaters at Brands Hatch in Kent. My personal finances, despite some local sponsorship, were not good enough to progress, despite one Formula 3 Race, when I sadly span off and unfortunately came third from last. But my most lasting memories are the fun and love my little Mini's gave me, despite many nights repairing and replacing parts and body panels... the scared knuckles healed quickly and I now look forward to soon just driving one again for leisure and pleasure !

Hi and welcome to Mini2!

My brother used to race classic Mini's in the TEAC races at Lydden and Brands Hatch, Kent back in the 1970's.

WoW....

What a history, I really enjoyed hearing about all your Rally events & torn up knuckles etc. As a kid I think a lot of us want to be a racer or mechanic of sorts. I had it hot for motorcycles for years, trucks then fell in love with my 1st Mini (it's basic, but love it). Have been doing my shop time since I helped my Dad cut, bend and fit dual exhaust on his 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix at 7 years old.

Glad your able to just sit back now cruise and enjoy your time!
