A short "pause" between Minis

Hello Everyone,
I dipped into the forum quite a bit before taking the plunge and buying a 2003 Cooper S last week. So, thanks to all the active and knowledgable contributors whose expertise helped me with my buying decision - I am delighted with it!
It is not my first Mini, that was a '75 Mini 1000 in red with a dark blue interior and a steering wheel the size of a side plate. The first car I paid for myself in 1980. So, you can already tell I am very, very old
Puts a big smile on my face every time I drive it as the supercharger whine reminds me a lot of the transmission whine I used to get on my old one.
Attached are a couple of photos of the new toy.

White Cooper Mini makes everyone happy....

I see why you're so satisfied with your purchase.... That is a great color and look. I would love to be supercharged on our recent build/purchase (a 2014 Countryman S All-4) turbo is great but I have always loved a supercharged motor, but no complaints on my part about turbo. We are giving our basic 2009 HardTop to the niece. Goly Gee can't wait to teach her to drive manual shift

Enjoy your ride it is sweet looking!!!!!

Thanks for your welcome and compliments on the car. My two other cars are Automatics and I have made a few mistakes with the stick shift but, as it's my current favourite over the other two, I'm sure it will get better as I drive it more and more.
My previous Jaguar has a supercharger (or more accurately, a very large supercharger bolted onto a small 400bhp V8) and that wailed like a Banshee when the fun pedal was pressed. There is something about the long ratios on this car that seems to make it feel that you're getting a lot of Ooomph from each shift.
My son has a relatively new BMW 330i, even he is questioning why he is running such an expensive beast when you can get so much fun for so little money!
Why has the Cooper S remained such a well kept secret?

Nice car! And I totally agree with you on the cost to fun ratio. A lot of car for a fair price. I love my JCW R56. These buggers scream!
