Hello and I need a little help

I am not a current owner of a mini but would like to be. I have started my search and have been frightened by some of the posts found on line. I have realized that people that have had a bad experience seem to want to drive everyone away from the mini. So I would appreciate any advice on what to look for and what to avoid while looking for my car. I would like to buy a used Mini Cooper S manual. Are there any years better than others? A certain mileage that is should not be over?
Can anyone tell me why this is the best car?
Thanks
Sandra

If youre going to buy a used one and youre frightened by the thought, get one with a good warranty, or better still buy a brand new one and drop your budget slightly and go for a standard Cooper instead maybe?
With the S its a car people buy for the performance and many used ones might have had a hard life, you cant go on mileage always either, depends on how its been looked after up until the point of sale and whether its always been serviced as it supposed to be.

Hi ya and welcome

What sort of year are you looking for as depending on year depends on model.
R50,R52,R53 is the first generation up to 2006 is the R52 went on abit longer
R56 second generation, 2006/7 on to 2013/14 ish

If you can narrow it down we can be more precise, +1 for what THE NUN says
I would also say service history is important thing, there are a few problems with both generations but if you have a problem do your research first because people have had work carried out by mini free or under good will. Again the service can be very good or shocking unfortunately that's life.

As I said if you know what sort of year your looking for people can help some more

Hope this helps

Ps think about your options you would like to ie leather, AC, satnav

White Cooper New or Used?????

Morning Sandra,

The wife and I have a 2009 Mini (non turbo) 6 speed HardTop (ill send you a pic via Smart Phone, the work lap top is givin tude this morn) we have 58'000 miles on it and have to say this is the most trouble free vehicle I have owned in my 25 years of driving. Have had a lot of vehicles from Cars, Trucks, Mototrcycles to ATV's. At about 55'000 the water pump and main drive belt went. Both spin every time you start your car till you shut it down, so that's can be expected. Other than those two items there has been NOTHING ever wrong with this Mini NOTHING Hell they even replace the wipers once a year for free.... .

Good MPG, Great Power (even though it's non turbo), Brakes are awesome and handling is the best I have ever experienced in a vehicle. HeHe and it fits in like all the parking spots.....

The wife n I are steppin up and have Built on Line and Ordered through Mini a 2014 Countryman S All-4! So to answer you Question and add to a comment from "The Nun" (I believe) You may want to build it online and order it. This way you get just what you want instead of paying for something that's on the lot that had packages you don't need, The only package we got was the Cold Weather Package (those Heated Seats are GREAT)

Just be careful Turbo/ S models are nice but it can be trouble if not taken care of. Oil changes that are done regular are Heaven for the engine especialy if it's Turbo!!!!

Best of luck and Post a pic when you choose one.
