Hi I'm from Leeds and have a Mini Cooper 2006 1.6 I am having a problem with engine light on it's coming up 283d which shows vanos exhaust adaption stop . My car is quite idle at times then drives with power changing from one to the other all the time, I am desperate to get this sorted but can't afford to put it in BMW garage, as recommended, I have googled the problem and think it could be a sensor but not Sure any help please would be appriciated thanks

The guys here should be able to help you. Mad4Mini, Independent mini garage repairer

It'll be far cheaper to let them have a look and diagnose it properly than guessing and trying random parts and hoping

Chupps. My 07 Cooper is throwing the same code. Yellow engine light with loss of power and the exhaust pops. Have you gotten your Mini fixed yet and what was the problem? MINI Canada wants me to drive 3 hours to get to their Garage. She'll never make the run with the hills and all. My local Mechanic is going to check the Timing and tensioner tomorrow. Hope you got yours fixed.
